This book was supposed to teach kids about rats. But that's what happens only in the first 2 or 3 pages. After that, everything is about animal experiments.
But hey, what parent would buy this for their kids, had they know that? Probably no one. So what's a little false advertising in order to increase sells, right?

Oh, and did I mention that PETA is the publisher of this one? You know, an organisation that is supposed to care for animals but last time I checked, they themselves were responsible for animals dying under their care and releasing inaccurate scientific stuff, such as a supposed link between autism and milk consumption?
Yeah, that PETA.

Don't get me wrong, I am also against animal testing and in the last couple of years, I've done my best to switch to fashion brands that don't experiment on them, and I agree that people have to be more educated on the horrors that happen inside labs. But I also (which is obvious to anyone) dislike PETA.
So maybe, a 2.5/5 or a 3/5 would be a fair rating?

Oh, and also, something related to the plot: How did the main kid's father got access to a lab in order to save that poor rat? Is there something they're not telling us? Which would also explain why that kid has all that knowledge in regards to the experiments! No one thought that it'd look suspicious?

If you made it this far, congratulations!
'Til next time, take care :) :) :)
