really liked it

This may be heresy, but I think this is my favourite of the Dune books so far. I found Dune interesting, but oddly opaque. The second book was more accessible, but didn't really grab me.

Wanda Pedersen I confess to reading this series repeatedly and I think I have picked up something new every time. And I think Machiavelli is required reading to fully appreciate Herbert's political machinations!

Guillermo I agree, Wanda. Herbert has such a rich style. Havnt gone for a second round just yet, but I m sure I ll pick up alot more. Shameful admission, but I probably only picked up about 45% on my first reading. Megan: are you going to continue the series?

Terry I'm one of the few who also love the sequels, though I think I still like Dune the best.

If you thought the first volume was opaque though, buckle up 'cause the last three volumes make it look like crystal clear water! :)

Kara Babcock It’s not heresy to love this one more! In many respects, Children of Dune ties up the loose ends of Dune and allows us to see Paul’s revolution come full-circle.

Watching the Sci-Fi Channel miniseries Children of Dune, which combines this book and Dune Messiah, was what motivated me to go back and read the rest of the Dune novels. (The title and cover of Dune Messiah at my library had dissuaded 12-year-old me from reading it after I had finished Dune for the first time.) I just love the messed up family/politics among Irulan, Alia, Leto, and Ghanima.

Tim Martin It is a very good book, nothing with liking it the most. All of the Dune books have their pluses and minuses. Personally I liked the last book, though that may be from me just wanting to know what happened next. I love the Dune universe, it is so well constructed.
