Really well written first novel in this new series. I'm usually not a fan of the fated-mates trope but the author did a good job of not using it as an end-run around building the relationship between the couple. The word building is great and makes me really excited to explore more in future books. I also like that it has a bit of an edge to it that a lot of other fated-mates stories don't (like IPB) with the threat of other, dangerous tribes potentially lurking in the shadows. It did suffer a bit from "first book syndrome" in which the relationship takes a back seat to setting up the world but overall it was really good
