This is only Mikayla’s second book, but she is now an auto-buy author for me. This story was fantastic and so different from her previous book (which was a hockey romance). This book had me captivated right at the start. It was beautifully written and literally could not put it down.
Until Tomorrow Comes is a powerful story that focuses on healing, self-rediscovery, and allowing yourself to love again. Both of these MCs experience trauma.
Kat has been in an abusive marriage for a year when she finally decides she has had enough and it's time to get out. When she tries, her husband ends up putting her in the hospital. Her brother, Alan, steps in to look out for her and asks his old military buddy, Jackson, to let her stay with him. Jackson agrees.
Over the course of seven months, Kat is able to heal from her trauma both physically and emotionally. Jackson also is dealing with some demons from his past that are still very much present. Together they find comfort with one another and their feelings grow every day as they understand one another.
Until Tomorrow Comes is truly an incredible book and you will experience such a wide range of emotions. I loved Kat and Jackson’s relationship and how it evolved naturally and they took the time to get to know each other before they got involved. It made swoon so hard for Jackson that he put her first no matter what and gave her that constant support and love that she needed. The symbolism of the colored butterflies was such a great moment and one of many from this story. I can’t wait to see if we get any more stories in this universe, I am fully invested in it.
**If you want to read this…def check triggers warnings as the story does focus around abuse.
Thank you Mikayla for the eARC.
Overall: 4.75
Spice: 2.5
Tropes:
-Brother’s Best Friend
-Forced Proximity
-Healing from Trauma
