First of all, thanks to the author for makinf a reading of this available on YouTube, it's lovely to get that chance.

I'd never actually read or listened to any books by this author or in this genre - Christian Hiistorical Fiction. It's not necessarily my favorite, but this one at least isn't too overly religious and it is refreshing to see books that are somewhat romantic but toned down on both erotics and violence.

I caught this series kind of in the middle so it was an adjustment figuring out all of the stories foing around the central characters and their town, but thankfully all is explained, though briefly and superficially.

Yhe character development isn't the greatest, the POVs aren't balanced, but the story development seems realistic for the time, trope and genre.

As I said, not exactly a convert, but I'd definitely give this more chances.
