Witches Get Stuff Done (Starfall, #1)

The set-up for this book was so good-- an island setting, a spooky haunted house, a family whose secret legacy is that they are witches who guide and guard ghosts, and a found coven. It didn't deliver. So much happened off-page. We didn't get to see Riley and Edison's relationship develop, or the coven hone their skills, or anything else. We were just told that this much time passed, and this happened, but we didn't see any of it. I also figured out the bad guys right away, which normally doesn't bother me, but since we didn't get to experience much of the story, it bugged me this time. I know that this is a quick, cozy type of story, but I can't help thinking that this set-up in the hands of Nora Roberts or Anne Rice would be really frigging good.
