Heart-Shaped Box

This is novella that takes place over a very short time, with an intense connection between the 2 MCs. Jack has been struggling for a long time, and has been afraid to let Lark in. What transpires is a series of far-too-convoluted and unbelievable events. While I'm ok with insta-love and devotion, the infrastructure behind what happens here is too much, especially given how childlike and innocent Lark is. I don't want to give any spoilers, but time after time I found myself saying "....ok, seriously?" Some stories ask you to suspend disbelief is a cheeky way, but this isn't one of them. Suki Fleet is a nice writer, but this was too over the top and improbable for me.
