Penny Roundtree is full of energy and enthusiasm. She's a familiar, waiting on a long list to be selected for training by a witch or warlock. Willem Sauer is a reclusive warlock who has been banned from taking a familiar as punishment for a crime he was framed for. He's okay with the fact that people don't generally like him. When the two meet, the result is this super fun, spicy, grumpy/sunshine romance. I loved Clare's writing and can't wait to read the first book in this series; I had no problem reading this (book 2) out of order. This was a refreshing romance that helped mix up my reading.
