Read 3 times. Last read April 17, 2025 to April 18, 2025.
I was all ready to like this book, even BEFORE reading it, as the title mentions Pixies, and I LOVE stories about them.
But, from the first sentence, this book grabbed me, and didn't let me go until now - it's presently 3:20 am, here in the UK - as I read the last word!
This is a lovely story, full of country wisdom, snarkiness, a bit of sass - and, also, some deep shadows that seem to have almost overwhelmed poor Misty Field, and are already making me eager to read book two of this new, series, when it comes out!
Misty is a great character, and I can't wait to learn more about her family, and how she thinks she can rescue them from harm - and, if they actually NEED rescuing, in the first place!
All the characters, in her new home, seem to be the perfect cross-section of a typical country town, and I can't wait to learn more about them all, withe gentle, but mysterious, Arthur.
I'm really hoping that, if Arthur IS a Shifter, and I'm doubting that, even as I write this, then he turns into a Bear, rather than a Wolf, as I've read many other Shifter stories over the years, and it was always the Bear shifters that I liked the most! Lol
I'm really, really, glad that I pre-ordered this book from Amazon, now, as it was very much worth the wait, and now I'll be waiting, rather impatiently, for book two to be released which, I believe, is on 5th April, and is called: 'The Cider Hex'.
A nicely apt name, from where this first book ended! Lol
But, until then, I've still got plenty of books to read, from the Oriceran Universe, and so I'll go on, tomorrow, once I've slept, as it's almost 3:30 am here, now, to read book three of the Magic City Chronicles: "A Flush of Diamonds".
So, once I've read that, I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I thought about the continuation of Ruby and Idryll's story!

It's Thursday, 6th February, 2025, and I've just finished re-reading this wonderfully entertaining book.
Once again, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it but, this time, I took notes on any food and drink mentioned, as the Author, Kat Healy, is going to be making a Cookery Book based on the foods mentioned in the series so far.
I love that I have the opportunity to revisit all the books again, and am so glad that I've got all of them, that are published so far as, this time, I can go straight on to Book Two: 'The Cider Hex', instead of having to wait so long for it's publication! Lol
I'm very much looking forward to reading this and, once I've finished it, this time, I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think of it - again!

it's Friday, 18th April, 2025 - only a couple of months since my last read, and I've just finished my third read of this wonderful book.
The 1st time was awesome, as it was brand new to me.
The 2nd time, I'd read it through to help the author, the wonderfully funny Kat Healy, as she needed to know exactly what food and drink had been mentioned, as she's planning a cookbook based on the food in the series - this was a quick and fun read for me.
But this 3rd read, was purely so that everything is fresh in my memory, as the penultimate book of the series has just recently been released so, due to my very poor memory, I wanted to read all the books again, to remind myself of the plotline.
I really loved this book, again. The Problem With Pixies' introduces a lot of the main characters of the series, so the reader slowly absorbs their characters, which will help so much with the rest of the series.
My memory is such, that I can re-watch a film, or re-read a book, with only a vague idea of the storyline. It used to drive my family crazy, when I didn't remember what I'd only just watched, or read, and that would upset me greatly - but I look at it as my super-power now, as I can re-watch, or re-read things as many times as I like, and not get bored at all!
So this 3rd read of 'Pixies', has been a wonderful revisit, as there was little that I remembered, and so the plotline was like new, and the characters were like people I'd met once before, but had hardly noticed them - but had suddenly got to know them so much better - and they were seriously worth getting to know, once more!
So, now I've finished this 1st book, I'm off to start Book Two: 'The Cider Hex'!
Once I've finished that, I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think of that one!
