it was amazing

Not enough stars to rate this book. I never could’ve imagined myself being sucked into a historical fiction but here we are. I am ashamed to admit I had no idea what truly went on. I feel like blinders have been taken off & the storytelling in this one is 10/10. Add this to the top of your TBR, you may surprise yourself.

Laken Berry This is one of my favorites! I also just am not very knowledgeable in history 🥴 and Kristin Hannah’s books (even though I know they are fiction) have taught me so much! The Nightingale, The Four Winds, Homefront, and The Great Alone by her are all also great!!!!

HoneybeeD sorry i see you did read it lol. my bad. and like expected you loved it. we seem have same taste in books. oh btw I am a Delaware gal. born and raised my kids Delaware now live Maryland but Delaware is my home.

Kayley Koch Also experiencing the "ashamed to admit I had no idea what truly went on." My husband is questioning whether it was me or my high school history teacher who totally failed.

Heather Leach I've been a trauma ICU nurse for 25 years, and the way Kristin Hannah describes how Frankie was feeling every time they brought in a patient could not be explained any better if she had lived the experience herself!! She's an amazing author! Although, I've never worked in combat, working in trauma, whether it's the ER, OR or ICU, you are constantly in a state of fight or flight! And I will forever have PTSD from it! It's not just a job, it consumes your whole life. And the only way to not carry it with you forever is to have never done the job. And I would never want to have not done this job because those were the days when I felt most alive!
And then the added element of the Vietnam war, the way they were treated when they returned home is exactly the things my dad told me happened to him (he was an Air Force flight medic, no wonder I chose trauma ICU). So many parallels to my life in this book. It touched my heart in so many levels! And will, without a doubt, always be my favorite book!
