This book blew me away. The story of Sammy and Will will stay with me for a long time. This is a beautifully written childhood best friends to lovers, second chance book. Make sure you have tissues handy.

Will and Sammy met as young boys growing up in the same small town. They were inseparable best friends until Will moved away. They were reunited again during the summer after they graduated from high school. In that time, Sammy hasn’t had an easy life with an absent mother and the responsibility of raising his younger brother.

Sammy’s story had me sobbing. Not just a few tears falling. Sobbing. He had way too much responsibility on his shoulders due to his neglectful mom. Will helped as much as he can, but ultimately he can’t.

Will loved Sammy fiercely and wanted to be everything to him, but also fought his own demons. He has a pure heart, but can be a bit misguided.

I don’t want to say anything more. These two get a HEA, but they fight hard for it. They need to forgive themselves and each other for choices they make do circumstances beyond their control. The author created some great side characters and I can’t wait to see them in future books.

Read this beautiful story. You won’t be sorry. Just heed the TW.
