it was amazing
bookshelves: 2024, best-friends, hurt-comfort, lgbtqia

4.5 stars. Sammy has a hard life he’s only eighteen and holding on by a thread. His mom left him and his younger brother to live with guy number… he lost count. He has all the responsibilities on his back.

Years ago he had a best friend, Will, who moved and lost contact. Now Will is back. First Sammy was angry because he never contacted him, but now Will wants to be boyfriends. Sammy is reluctant, he just doesn’t deserve a guy like Will.

Will sees Sammy as the guy he really is, he cares, and he’s a survivor but sadly has little self-esteem.
But Sammy made a decision that hurt both of them deeply.

We can follow them over the years when they are both lost.
Funny how life works for them, you can run and avoid, you can shut yourself off, but in the end, fate did what was good for them. And thank goodness it was good!

Oh wow, that was a captivating story. Two guys coming from different backgrounds, going from best friends to losing this and having second chances. It’s all quite emotional.
The hurt comfort was palpable, I even hoped for more resistance, but these guys were so lovable and kind, they didn’t want to hurt.
The whole story is well written. The author did a great job, crafting out their journey over all those years.
