Thank you to the author for the ARC!🥰♥️
Quinnevere Ashelle wants nothing more than to join the Royal Ballet. But on the night of her 23rd birthday, when she strikes a deal with a wicked god stuck in a gilded mirror, her whole world is turned upside down in betrayals, lies, and secrets. When she finds her beloved friend dead the following morning, with punctured wounds, Quinn begins to think the long-extinct vampires may not actually be gone, and are beginning their revenge.
I truly enjoyed this story and the uniqueness of it ♥️🪞 I loved the idea of gods being trapped in mirrors and striking deals with mortals for exchanges, and the world-building felt like a whimsical 1920’s New Orleans to me with the cable cars, steamboats, clothing, etc.
The murder mystery plot was enthralling, from all the twists and turns, the mistrust amongst the characters about who could possibly be the murderer, and the secrets spilled throughout — it was all exciting! I loved Quinnevere’s character development and seeing her grow into this strong, curious and loyal woman. I also loved the mysterious Emrys and his charming, sarcastic yet sometimes broody personality. I felt like his and Quinn’s relationship going from enemies to allies (and more) was built so steadily and their banter was everything.
I seriously can’t wait for book 2, especially after that ending!
This is perfect for any reader who likes:
- Fantasy
- Evil bargains
- Vampires
- Immortal Gods
- Enemies to lovers
- 1920’s World-Building
