OH.MY.GOD. Never have I ever finished a book in two whole months. Why did I not drop it the first time I paused reading? I guess I was curious what all the fuss was about. Such an overkill of regular emotions, such an overwriting, such exaggeration of language use and what’s up with not using speech quotes? I totally get that it’s a literary choice but if you’re doing it, use less conversations or make it more reader friendly. Who talks like that anyway? Every single character speaks like a philosopher, even Naomi. I’m sorry, but no. And why exceed 400 pages? If the end goal was for us to grieve as hard and deep as the two brothers, congratulations, I honestly felt a terrible grief throughout the novel. The hardest-to-read novel I ever went through had been The Fountainhead up until this moment, although it didn’t give the reader a fake feeling, maybe due to the time and the setting. Intermezzo, even with the name choice is so unrealistic, I feel angry that the storyline was spent woth the literary overkill.
