Meet Me in Wonderland (In the Carolinas, #3)

This was a full-length, holiday adjacent romance. What I mean by that is it takes place during the winter season and covers both Christmas and New Years. SO it works for the whole time!
This was an Ex-Boyfriend's Dad, Snowed In, Office Romance. Lots of great tropes and scenarios were squished into the tale and I enjoyed that so much! It was lower angst, since it's been awhile from when Ellie dated Fisher's son. So there wasn't a ton of tension for that at the start.
Their chemistry and mutual pining are very evident from the start. The easy camaraderie they share during the business day felt very natural. But there's just a tiny edge of flirting hinted at between them. When Ellie's well laid plans for a business retreat go awry, they find themselves snowed in for a week at the resort, in the same cabin no less.
They end up having a bit of a "screw it" moment and giving into their desires. And the rest is history! It so we would hope...
There was a lot I was loving about this one. But... as so often happens... the 3rd act was blown away out of proportion for me. I do NOT see why the hero was the one who owed all the explaining. That's my opinion though but it soured the last 20% for me. Ellie owed him a bit better than what she does. I don't agree that the decision should have been all hers. It disrespected the long standing relationship and connection they had.
Overall, this was good. Not everyone will be as annoyed as I was and it is good for a full length winter/holiday book.
3.5 stars (rounded up)
3 on the spice scale
CW: childless by choice, exhibitionism, and voyeurism
