it was amazing
bookshelves: historical-fiction, novel

I loved this one. Sensory detail drew me right in to this orphanage in Venice in the early 1700s. Vivaldi was my favorite composer to play on the viola, and Constable makes a believable case that he may have had help on some of his most iconic works. It was a delight to meet Anna Maria della Pieta, a historic character largely overshadowed who Constable gives new life to.
