Zoo (Zoo, #1)

The story idea for this book was exception. Thinking about the "what if?" is unsettling. Unfortunately the execution (or writing) was sub standard. Meaning the protagonist (in first person) was shallow, there were numerous point of view changes (from main character, to animals, to side kick) and huge time jumps (for no reason removing immediacy). It ended up being a bunch of HAC (human animal conflict) scenes just thrown together without a plot that flowed smoothly. Meaning no build up or resolution just the action scenes. I have to admit I'd love to read this story idea in a well written plot.
I really don't get it, because I've read Ledwidge before and usually he ties the plot together seamlessly. I can only assume Patterson was demanding deadlines be met rather than taking time to edit and rewrite so that it flowed.
