It took me awhile to start this book, correction, it took me awhile to attempt this book. I wasn’t a huge fan of submissive Heroes, but of course over the years my tastes have changed. This isn’t my favorite Pam Godwin book, but it was captivating, different and dark.
She is a Deliverer, she kidnaps, trains and delivers the submissive. Her 9th submissive is a virgin twenty-one-year-old college football player.
I wasn’t a fan of the writing style of this one, I found the plot a bit slow at times (esp. the beginning) and the writing overly descriptive. I tend to like more dialogue and action based books. I found that I skimmed the inner monologues a lot.
There’s a lot of inner monologues because of all the crazy stuff happening.
What I did like is that within the first part of the book we know why she does what she does. I really liked there wasn’t a mysterious element to that. I understood her, I didn’t agree with her, but I got her.
Even though Joshua is a “submissive” because he’s training to become one, he still has dominating qualities that still appeals to me as a reader. That was very important. Of course he goes through a lot, but that’s what makes the book interesting.
The book isn’t what I expected and to my surprise there were twist and turns at every corner which really added to my reading experience. I did find the chemistry between Joshua and her a little lacking. It was rushed in my opinion, but I liked that he didn’t fight her for too long in the book. That can get too agnsty for me.
Overall, Deliver is a good introduction to the series and I will continue on.
