I love the base plot. I love the idea that two lost little kids found salvation in one another, and grew to fall in love no matter the circumstances.

But I hate the main character. Brooklyn is the typical self-pitying, hypocritical, self-centered, and bitchy new adult who uses her past to excuse her actions. I have read about this type of character too many times, and I have grown weary of her. It annoyed me.

As for Finn, he was so sweet. His behavior during the entire novel doesn't match at all with his supposed "man-whore reputation", so I just found it that much more difficult to justify Brooklyn's bitchiness towards him. Also, his behavior didn't seem to fit with his story. First of all, we get very little on his own childhood. We don't know much about what landed him in foster care, and how he got to where he did. There are so many holes there. Second, with the rough background he had, how did the "sad-eyed boy" become the idealistic guy he ended up?

Overall, not a great read.

Momz Reading This sums it up perfectly. I couldn’t get past the blatant bitchiness of Brooklyn. I managed to get a little over halfway through and then skipped to the last two chapters. I couldn’t stand the character Brooklyn was turned into.
