I haven't ever read anything by Helena Hunting before and I received this book as a gift. I most assuredly will be reading the rest of this series now! This book was so overwhelming, and I mean that in a good way. I was soo unprepared for the heartbreaking angst that was Lance's story. I will admit that I cried big, fat, ugly tears. His story devastated me. His past and his demons swallowed me up. I wanted to, NO, I NEEDED to jump into my Kindle and wrap my arms around him and hold him tight. I needed to comfort him and love up on him until he knew his own self worth and love himself.
Thus enters Poppy. She's smart, kind, generous, inspiring, forgiving, loving. Everything that Lance needed, that's who she was. I loved her as the heroine. The best part, she's from his horrible past that was so horrible, he doesn't remember the little bit of good from it--namely, her. The way that these two came together and melded so perfectly was truly beautiful. Thankfully, I got to cry big, fat, happy tears also! Reading Lance's and Poppy's story makes me a believer in destiny and in soulmates. I definitely recommend this book.
