Outstanding and insightful
This beautifully written book invites the reader into the arthur's life from her earliest memories of her autistic brother and carries the reader with her as she slowly comes to terms with what it meant to be the sibling of a severely disabled child before autism had a name. She carried the weight of her mother's depression and her father's disappointment in addition to the shame they feel for producing a disabled child. Ms Combs' insight into her childhood experiences is remarkable.
Though the book might be a difficult read for parents of a child with autism, it is filled with compassion, love and resilience, forgiveness and hope. I highly recommend this book.
