I really liked the sweet and emotional topic the book had. I am really thrilled to read books where the main characters know each other for a long time. This book is especially thrilling because Ben is in love with his best friend's older brother for almost 10 years but Jason doesn't know any of it - at least that what's Ben thinks. Next to thinking it's impossible to have a real relationship there is the fact that Jason is eleven years older and has seen Ben for a long time as a third brother.

When I started the book I was right from the start hooked by the charming characters, the nice and cozy behaviour. It's clear they know each other for years, the familarity, the close relationship, the trust is there. And although there is the huge age gap between Ben, Liam and Jason they visit each other often and enjoy the other's company.

The book is a bit emotional due to the animal shelter topic and the rescue of the small cat, but it's so sweet enwinded in the whole book that you can't help yourself and swoon while reading the scenes. You are as bewitched as Ben and Liam when you read about the sweet cats or Jason's dog later in the book.

Jason is as the older brother displayed as a mature guy, one who's responsible for the well-being of his baby brother, or at least he think he is. He is really family centered and that's what makes him charming. On the other hand it's Liam and Ben, including Pete, who tickle Jason's joyful side and "force" him to socialize more. :) I really cracked up at the dry tone and sometimes fatherly behaviour of Jason. XD
He is also pretty often rethinking his actions, something which makes some scenes unnecessary complicated and with his thoughts about Ben and Liam he is making more trouble than needed.

Ben is, for his 24 years, more mature than you would actually expect and it's one thing Jason notices. I really liked how he was displayed as a charming, calm guy without being boring or too shy. He is also described as a sweet, kinda nerdy looking guy (when he wears his glasses) and has a boyish freshness with his messy hair and huge eyes. Totally a sexy boy from next door. ;)

I really liked how Ben is pretty sure what he wants when he sees an opporunity with Jason in risking a move it getting closer to him. :) Their switch from friendship to love is pretty natural, but due to the constructed obstacles it takes a time till both are getting closer. But when they do it's sweet, hot and really emotional. <3

A great Christmas story, full of love, friendship & close relationships, being a family without being related. <3 Also full of charming animals, and let us be honest: who can resist those? XD
I give this story 4.5 out of 5 stars. :3
