When I discovered the pleasure of reading m/m romance novels almost 2 years ago, Keira Andrews was one of the authors I quickly discovered. I loved her writing, the stories she was telling, the characters she created. But somehow, in my search for more books, more authors, I forgot a bit about her and her books, and so when I read Flash Rip just the other week (because it was her latest novel and because of the blurb and the high ratings, which made me curious) it reminded me again of how much I liked reading her books.
I LOVED Flash Rip so much, that I immediately started reading this book. I've had it on my Kindle for quite some time, but for some reason hadn't picked it up yet.
And WHY NOT?! That's what I keep asking myself. Because it was SO GOOD!! I could have picked up a great read ages ago!! It's not that I haven't read any great books in between, but still...
I don't know how to write down a review that will do this story justice. It was just so sweet and charming and it made me feel all cozy and warm inside. Of course there were some bad moments as well, I mean, Ethan really did get his share of bad things in life, but Clay...My God, he was such a sweet and tender and caring person! I would love to have known him in my own life ;)
I liked how Ethan wasn't afraid to show Clay his vulnerable side and how he later on, when he was confident enough around Clay, dared to tell what he wanted and how he wanted it.
I loved Clay's insecureness when it came down to having his first time gay-sex, I think Keira made wonderful efforts to make it all seem like real-life experiences. Clay wasn't afraid to ask and to let Ethan see how inexperienced he was when it came down to sex, even though he was the older one in this relationship.
I liked Sam and Clay's ex-wife Barb too; they were real nice secondary characters.
God, it was good to be reminded what a great writer Keira Andrews is.
I think I'm off to reading another one of her books that I haven't started yet. I really would like for me to stay in this happy, fluffy flow for a little while longer :)
