Cold & Deadly (Cold Justice: The Negotiators #1)

I've been reading Toni Anderson books since 2014, so the author’s style and book content is not new to me. I read Cold & Deadly (Cold Justice: Crossfire #1) by Toni Anderson , as a NetGalley “read now” selection, almost a year after its original publication date. Sadly I found the book to be rather bland, single dimensional, and with characters I couldn’t identify with or root for. The overall story in my opinion lacked excitement, tension, surprise, or any real suspense. The romantic component of the story had the required sex scenes, the rush to love, and the expected “happy for now / forever” ending.
I felt the book was rather generic, change the character’s names, have a different plot, but it could have been any other book by the same author. Looking back over the author’s books I’ve read, I see the most of my enjoyment came from her early Cold Justice books , losing steam towards the end of that series.
In my opinion, a story with more suspense, surprise, even some grizzly scenes and plot that keeps the reader guessing, and on the edge of their seat is far more satisfying. I almost could call this a cozy romantic suspense read.
I realize looking at other reviews of the book that I am in the minority, but for me this was a 2.75 star read which I will raze to 3 stars.
I wish to extend my thanks to the Author, her publishing division and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and provide an honest review.
