Bookish Ally Ha ha, being a Trollope fan, I do agree his stories are slow moving, and one has to be in the mood. On the other hand one definitely gets acquainted with the characters that people his books.


Gregory I agree that in this one there are too many minor characters and subplots, which just keep you waiting for the nub of the novel, which is the legal case and its fallout. The courting problems of Trollope's young people are a bit too similar from book to book, and after a while you get a bit tired of them.
