The Seven Sisters (The Seven Sisters, #1)

This was a difficult read... The dialogue was so unrealistic and constantly felt like I was being told how to feel instead of having a glimpse into the characters thoughts.
There was so much potential for a great love story between Maia and Floriano as they research and explore her family's link to the creation of the Cristo, but instead I had to just read about Maia's great grandmother being a silly niave teenager in Paris.
There was absolutely no character development and I couldn't even root for the love story in the past, cause it was just... icky? The author also changes the personalities of supporting characters at any given time to justify how they are treated by the the main character. Not at all okay 😐🙅🏽♀️🤕
Some parts felt rushed while others felt like they were added hastily to add depth to Maia's character 70% into the book. This was poorly executed and it just made her come across as shallow. Real issues, such as adoption and mental health, that should've been treated with care was written poorly.
I am a sucker for punishment though so I'll probably continue reading this series. I would like to see for myself why this series is so highly rated. Could this series possibly get better?
