it was amazing

Alicia and Chase have a history and a shared disease - alcoholism. Alicia knows what it is like to hit rock bottom; Chase has just reached that point himself. After driving drunk, he gets in a crash that paralyzes his friend and fellow firefighter. As part of his sentence, he moves to the Outer Banks for the summer to do community service while living in his uncle’s beach house. Alicia is already there, working at the same community center while waiting to hear if she got into grad school. They feel a connection again, but this time it is a true connection, without alcohol to cloud their judgement.

I really liked this book - I think it talked a lot about redemption and how people who feel that they are broken can come back with a good support network. I thought the relationship between Alicia and Chase was sweet and hot. They talked about being honest with each other no matter what but I think they both were still holding back a piece of themselves.

I have not read the other books in this series but now I want to go back and read them. I think since Chase is a big part of the first book, it would be interesting. That being said, this book worked as a stand alone for me and I think the author included enough information for me to understand how Alicia and Chase knew each other.

This book is part of a duet so the HEA is not in this book.
