The writing style of this author doesn't mesh with what I enjoy as a reader. There is way too much exposition and internal monologue. A five sentence conversation takes five pages because someone says a sentence and then gets lost in their own head for a page. Then the next person replies, lather, rinse, repeat until I can't even remember what the point of the conversation was. I prefer showing in books. This is just way, way, waaaaaaay too much telling for me. It's an absolute chore to get through and that's not the point of reading for me.

message 2: by John (new)

John I find it funny how romance develops according to trends.

Now you can find plenty of novels with hockey players for example, which I find hard to enjoy if you're not specifically into this sport.

Apparently the new trend is demons, but I have trouble to see how that can benefit a MM romance. My recent experience was quite disappointing.
Do you have a good book to recommend?

Heather Louisa Masters has the Hidden Species series that has demons, but it's not a religious context. I struggle with her books because the world building tends to be amazing and the romance poor, then the series always end with a whimper. But I do tend to be a minority opinion on that. There were two spinoff series from that one, one with dragons and one with demons.
