Taiwan's Coretronic ramps up drone production as rare earth risks loom

Coretronic Intelligent Robotics Corp. (CIRC), a subsidiary of Taiwan's Coretronic Group, said it is ramping up drone production to meet growing government and defense demand. South Korea agrees to US energy investments in exchange for tariff reductions
US President Donald Trump has approved South Korea's construction of a nuclear-powered submarine at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard in an effort to strengthen their alliance. South Korea will pay US$350 billion in exchange for a reduction in tariffs and will make large-scale purchases of US oil and natural gas. Its total investment in the US is expected to exceed US$600 billion.

U-Best targets defense market with bulletproof coating passing client validation
The Sun Yad Group, known for its subsidiary Myson Century, which aims to become Taiwan's answer to DJI, also includes U-Best Innovative Technology, an upstream PU resin supplier that has developed bulletproof coatings. China expands rare earth export controls to midstream and end products
On October 9, 2025, China's Ministry of Commerce issued Announcements No. 61 and 62, expanding export controls on rare earths. The scope now extends beyond raw materials to include equipment, technology, and assemblies containing rare earth elements. An extraterritorial clause was also introduced, stating that foreign products containing a certain proportion of Chinese-origin rare earths or manufactured using Chinese technology must also apply for export licenses. China emphasized that this clause was intended to improve the regulatory system; in response, the US raised tariffs.

First of Taiwan's FORMOSAT-8 satellite heads to the US for launch into orbit
