Bansko
Bulgaria may not be the most famous ski country, but the fact is that Bansko is an excellent ski resort. The ski resort is located about two hours by car south of the capital Sofia, at the foot of the Pirin Mountains. It's Bulgaria's best ski resort and it's actually up to scratch, even if it could use some upgrading. There are good opportunities for good off-piste skiing here. The system is just the right size and is ideal for a week of skiing, après-ski and entertainment.
You can reach altitudes of up to 2,1968,5 feet with the lifts. However, make sure to be as early as you can as long queues can quickly form at the gondola. There are no green slopes at all, most of them are red. With a maximum vertical drop of 1,2178,5 feet and a total of 16 lifts to use, Bansko is a good choice for those who want to ski without it costing too much.
