It's convenient to use, and super easy to get on board with. Earlier I remember I had to physically purchase the clickers, but with an online transition, it's so much better to use. Very easy to use- especially setting up questions, answering them, and all in-class polls. These allow students to learn from in-class mistakes, as the review is always available. In the past there was a challenge to keep users up to date on which version of the software to use. This may be more of a legacy issue though as I believe it self updates for the most part now. It is also harder to justify the expense when there are free polling platforms available and tools such as Slido. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Good support from Macmillian. Polling and quizzes work well. Attendance is easy to set up and customize. I use it for daily participation scores in a class of 200+ students. It works fine most of the time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

If a student has more than one account (for example, if they had registered for another class with a different email) then iClicker will only recognize that previous account and won't allow the student to make a new account that will synch with the learning software. Ease of use. Just log in and set up quizzes or polls. Then students can use their remote, computer, or smart phone to answer the questions. Teacher's can assign things for students to accomplish prior to class to assess knowledge. Students can review results and learn from questions they get wrong. You can have classrooms within iclicker for each course in order to keep things organized. There is a section for study materials and a place to see grades.

Costly subscription. This product is very expensive. The subscription also expired part way through the year requiring us to purchase an additional subscription.

I also disliked how hard and confusing it is to initially set up classrooms. Sometimes this took quite a bit of time and multiple attempts. Sometimes the link that was supposed to set the one needed to set up a classroom space did not work. I love how the iclicker can do so many things! You can press the buttons in the remote and the answers chosen will reflect onto the screen. It’s incredibly fun and useful for students. I love how you can see tour answers love compared to other students. It engages learning and keeps them on their toes. It has been so far the best tool I for undergraduate studies. I also love that the battery life hold very well. There is no need to plug it into an outlet for it to charge, which is very nice. Additional upsides include working alongside peers to answer questions, and improved test scores due to attentiveness to iclicker questions. The iclicker is most helpful when students want to participate but are either too shy to raise their hand. This eliminates awkwardness in a classroom setting. I dislike how sometimes if you are not connected to the class number then you cannot participate. Sometimes there are signaling errors so that makes it hard for students to connect and interact. I also dislike how it runs on batteries. There is a battery setting to tell you how low your battery is but it uses up battery life really fast. Also, when you drop the iclicker it has a tendency to break, so the plastic is not very durable. Some students can not afford the cost of another iclicker because of the expense. The least helpful thing about the iclicker is that it cannot save your results into a database as the answers chosen will be forever deleted. The downsides include never being able to see the question asked in class, so students cannot review what they got wrong or what they got right. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Functions the same as a normal clicker (you can even register physical clickers on the site), but instead of paying the $50 for a physical clicker, you can register for about $5 and use a virtual clicker. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I went to an enormous university, and iclicker made it possible for professors to visually gauge their students’ understanding of course material. I used iclicker to participate in class polls, gain attendance points, and answer questions. I loved that iclicker could create visual representations in the form of charts so professors and students could see where they respectively stood. My class size could get substantially large (300+ students), but with iclicker, my professors could still get a sense on the class’s overall progress and make sure that every student’s voice was heard through polls and Q&A sessions. iclicker is so simple and intuitive to use. One doesn’t have to be an expert on technology to figure out how to use iclicker (believe me, some of my professors were pretty old and they used it seamlessly). One aspect about iclicker that was irritating was the timer setting. Sometimes professors would forget to adjust the time for iclicker responses so students’ answers could not be registered. I do not think this feature is really necessary. Additionally, I think the software in the remotes can be adjusted to be a little bit more intuitive. Configuring the remotes to connect to the specific response frequency for a given classroom caused issues for me, as well as other students. Some generations of iclicker remotes do not have UIs, so this made it even harder to determine if the remote was properly configured. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The physical devices are small, and quite robust. If the technology is implemented properly, it can provide a smooth experience for the end user. However, in my experience, the technology is often implemented by executives and or higher level instructors who tend to be older and less tech-capable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The technology is expensive and updates are less frequent because of the physical component. There are so many competing technologies on the market that are purely software based that offer better support, cheaper introductory prices, and clearer user interfaces for technology-challenged users.
