"Ten Year Knack user"
What do you like best about Knack?

I have used Knack to write two relatively complex database solutions. While I had to get used to some non-standard database terms (e.g. connection vs. join), I found it extremely easy to learn and use. The best thing about Knack is the support. Except for a brief span a couple of years ago, their responsiveness and helpfulness has been superb. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Knack?

Knack does not have any developer tools that let you create a workable testbed and transfer code to the live app.

There is no way to filter or search for a particular page in Builder which is a problem when your app has over 100 pages. Likewise it does not let you group your pages easily or categorize them (e.g. Active, Retired, Pending, etc.). While the new Next-Gen version of Builder now has much better tools, we will not be able to migrate because of a major component of our system using JavaScript code and a DHTMLX product. "Strong Upgrade with the New Builder"
What do you like best about Knack?

I’ve been using Knack for several years, across multiple apps and organizations. When I recently opened a new app and saw the new builder interface, I wasn’t thrilled. I had solid workflows in the old UI and was used to moving fast.

But the new UI is a clear step forward. It’s fast, intuitive, and well-organized. I was up and running quickly, and before long I preferred it. The improvements weren’t just cosmetic — they make building smoother and more efficient. I think they really 'knocked it out of the park.'

I had early concerns about JavaScript support in the new builder, but the team was responsive and quickly put those concerns to rest.

One of the strongest parts of Knack is its balance. It's easy enough to get things working fast, but with plenty of depth and customization when you need it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Knack?

There are always little rare unique features you wish it had. But I would not be able to say there's anything I dislike.

And quite frankly, some custom code will usually get the job done if any feature is not already there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"For rapid application development and prototyping, Knack is still the most complete system out there"
What do you like best about Knack?

After a short but steep learning curve you become very productive, very quickly. For most common business applications Knack will have a template that can be used to start you off, and even if you start from scratch you're able to create a data model very quickly and then have Knack build your basic pages. It's easy to understand and simple to use. The UI customisation is not perfect yet, but if you have a basic understanding of CSS you can create beautiful user interfaces easily enough. The ability to build in business logic attached to fields, views or forms is very useful and intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Knack?

Performance has been an issue in the past, this is improving all the time as Knack get their act together from an engineering point of view. I feel that more views should be supported by now (Kanban, Gantt etc.) and that they've fallen behind a bit on dashboard widgets (there's only so much you can do with a pie chart, bar chart and line chart) and it doesn't really support data-warehouse or Business Intelligence applications well enough at the moment. But all of these challenges have workarounds so they don't become blockers on projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Awesome Super Flexible Database"
What do you like best about Knack?

I can do just about anything I or my users can think of. Knack fits perfect for our database needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Knack?

Certain standard features such as duplicate removal are not native and this can be VERY challenging. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Forget Exce"
What do you like best about Knack?

Knack is easy to configure and use. It makes light work of the heavier loads. Forget the complexities of Excel. Knack does it better and much more. And I'm not using much more in the way that marketing professionals do. Knack can do much more than Excel when it comes to inventory and sales data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Knack?

Knacks only short coming is the lack of some native integrations into pre-existing tables such as Sales and Products for Shopify as an example, but the API is easy to use so we've solved that problem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excellent, Easy No Code!"
What do you like best about Knack?

The first differentiator with Knack was having the benefit of an Onboarding Expert who walks you through what to expect, what can be achieved and how to get started! Second, the availability of template apps that load in only minutes is phenomenal! That's a great way to get a solid lay of the land. Third, the platform itself is very intuitive. After planning a basic design on paper, you're able to build an app literally within a day! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Knack?

Some minor capabilities are not available, however, Knack offers generous resources and support for ways to create work arounds in these cases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Knack helps me solve my clients data issues"
What do you like best about Knack?

Knack is simple enough for about anyone to build very useful database apps. But at the same time, it is extremely robust allowing very high end functionality for users with a little more experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Knack?

The somewhat limited ability to do better formatting and page layouts on detail reports and forms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Knack?

I like the set price, regardless of users, this makes it easy for me to create an app without fear of the cost each month. Originally i had planned to use knack to create apps as proof of concept, before commiting to further development. I was pleasantly surprised that we actually don't need to develop some of the apps, as knack as many features that cover the needs i have. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
