What do you like best about Workday HCM?

Workday HCM offers a centralized platform that streamlines core HR processes such recruitment, compensation management, full employee life-cycle and access to employee data in real time. Workday offers a user friendly interface for end-users and a fairly intuitive approach to perform HR transactions both via self-service and via HR Shared Services teams. One of the key features that our employees like is the self-service capability. Platform early adopters were fascinated that they could see their profile updates (i.e. payment elections, tax elections, personal info, etc.) updated in real time, rather than sending an email to a generic mailbox and waiting for a long time for the changes to be reflected. Additionally, Workday offers fantastic reporting and dashboard capabilities. which allow for data-driven decisions & recommendations. Finally, Workday integrates well with other systems (either via core connectors or custom integration solution developed in Workday Studio) and that makes Workday to be the hub and source of truth for employee data. What do you like best about Workday HCM?

Workday stands out for its intuitive design, making it incredibly user-friendly and easy to configure. The platform’s clean look and feel enhances usability, and its robust security features allow precise segmentation so users only access the data they’re authorized to see—an essential capability for maintaining data integrity.

One of the biggest positives was how smooth the implementation process was. While switching over to Workday was a significant lift, we were able to complete it on time with a small implementation team, thanks to the excellent support from the Workday team. Our rollout was well received across the organization, which speaks volumes about the product’s readiness and adaptability.

Reporting did take some time to learn, but once I got the hang of it, building reports became efficient and flexible enough to meet nearly all user requests.

It is a wonderful tool to keep track of your complete profile, number of leaves remaining, complete your performance evaluations, and track your yearly performance feedback. I have taken compliance and some mandatory training, which has been given by my company, and the experience has been seamless. It is easy to use with a simple interface to track your basic needs when it comes to payroll, performance, etc. I use it at least 2-3 times a month to either complete training or to track my perfomance. I am not sure about the efficiency of their customer support since I have never run into a problem as such. What really stands out for me is how much Workday simplifies everyday tasks. I first got to use it while working at Booking.com, then later at Expedia, and now in my current role at Kantar. Across all these companies, it’s been the one system that keeps everything HR-related in one place—whether it’s requesting time off, checking payslips, or handling onboarding.

The interface feels intuitive once you get used to it you will use it a lot, it's easy to understand and setup your account and fill in your personal information, and I really like that I can access everything from my phone when I’m on the go. As much as I rely on it now, I have to admit that at first it felt a bit overwhelming. There are so many features, and each company I’ve worked at configured it slightly differently, so it took some getting used to. Setting up reports or navigating more advanced tools can still feel a little complicated without guidance, Another minor downside is that the system can slow down when a lot of people are using it at the same time specially in office and some of the customization options aren’t as easy as I’d like. Like anything new, once you get used to Workday, it becomes easier to appreciate. The process of clocking out and back in might feel like a hassle at first, but it’s actually helpful for tracking hours accurately—for both the employee and employer.

What I do like about workday

Despite the initial adjustment, I’ve found Workday to be helpful and efficient in many ways. Some features I’ve come to rely on include:

Requesting time off (PTO filing is super easy)

Checking daily/weekly hours worked

Tracking work history and any movement or changes

Accessing important HR documents or requirements

The layout is also clean, and once you’ve navigated around a bit, it becomes very user-friendly.

A quick note on Workday HCM

One thing that stands out is Workday’s HCM. While I haven’t used every part of it personally, I can already tell it’s built to support the full employee journey—from recruitment to retirement.

Whether you're onboarding, applying for internal opportunities, updating personal info, or managing benefits, Workday HCM provides a centralized and intuitive experience. For HR teams, it seems like a powerful tool for managing data, workflows, and compliance all in one place.

I’ve only been using Workday for about 2 to 3 months, and as someone who's relatively new to the platform, I wanted to share my honest thoughts—especially for others who might be diving into it for the first time.

At first, it felt inconvenient

When we were first trained on how to navigate Workday, my immediate reaction was: “This feels a little inconvenient.” The most noticeable part? Having to manually clock in and out for breaks and lunch. As someone who's used more automated timekeeping tools before, this felt like a step back.

But then again, I’m working remotely. And when you think about it, it makes sense—the company needs a reliable way to monitor work hours when they can’t see you in person.

The login process takes some getting used to

Another thing I noticed was the login verification process. If you leave Workday open and idle for a few hours (say, 3 to 4 hours), you’ll likely get signed out. And when that happens, you need to re-enter a verification code—meaning you have to jump to another tab, get the code, and log back in.

Is it repetitive? Yes.

Does it enhance security? Also yes.

The best part of Work day is to be able to upload all the coachings, Meetings, and 1 to 1s with my employees. This also helps us track the number of months Employee had worked with us, and reminds us to leave a review about their probation period once the Initial probation period is about to reach an end.

Monthly performance reviews that go straight to HR. all this info helps our HR to take a decision about an employees, Rise, or in some cases HR is able to make the decision of discontinuation of the employment based on the performance.

This tool rates the employes overall performance. This is very helpful when an employee is moved to another department. The hand over from 1 leader to and another team leader is made very easy.

It is also used for onboarding and off boarding of an employee.
