We're In The Cherries Here!

Our area (Traverse City + 5 county region) is known for being the largest producer of tart cherries in the nation.  Right now the trucks are being loaded and running them to the processing plant.

I put some flowers in my cherry pitcher to brighten things up!

My bee skip pitcher seemed appropriate since bees pollinate the cherries!

I even found a candle that is cherry related and the runner was from April Cornell.

I layered a white cutwork plate behind one of my metal Cherry dishes.  I got a set of four of these from Pottery Barn a few years back.  The colander is part of a set with a plate made by Golden Rabbit, Barbara Collins Gallett.

I decided to use my two tier tray again for displaying my smaller pieces of Polish Pottery.  I bought them randomly.  Here I have a honey jar, and egg holder and a creamer.

I couldn't quite fit this honey pot with spoon so I tilted the lid.  I have a small vase, a really tiny creamer as well as a cow creamer.

I'll leave you with a picture of my back gardens.  Ahh summertime!
Have a great weekend!

Land Of The Free

LAND OF THE FREE
and
The Home Of The Brave!

I've created this vignette for the 4th of July celebrations with the same items I've used for several years but in a new display area and layout.

Freedom and Liberty

Uncle Sam was a find several years ago so he makes his apperance each year.

A faux red geranium and some wicker balls were added.

The two boy and girl statues are Bethany Lowe figurines and a couple of patriotic birds!

I loaded the base with these red white and blue filler pieces just to make it look more complete.

Freedom, Liberty and behind is a red one that says Happiness

What is that myserious rolling pin?

I found this old rolling pin in my mother's things when we were cleaning out the house last fall.  The ribbon is in pretty sad shape but I thought I'd leave it as is.

After studying flags I've decided this loosely represents the Norwegian Flag and Coat of Arms.  I'm imagining mom picked it up at a craft show since it has little hooks put into it and the ribbon was added so you could hang it.  It has nothing to do with our 4th of July celeration but I thought it was quaint and fit in to the vignette.

Patriotic Vignette #2

 Land of the free!

A few trinkets!  The White House and Statue of Liberty are salt and pepper shakers.

I elevated the flag by turning a candle votive holder upside down and used some tacky wax to stabilize it.

I used my "rug" with stars all over it for a table runner.  I believe it came from Pier 1 a few years ago.
(It's never been used on the floor)

 A couple of Uncle Sam's!

Lady Liberty with fireworks behind her!

At night the candles glow and it takes on a whole new look!

A Patriotic #1 Vignette

Hello everybody!  It's been a little while since I posted anything inside.
Today I've created a vignette on top of my new credenza.

Waving flags gently clustered together (which are perched inside using a foam insert)

I added some patriotic table scatter.

Since it's almost time for day lilies I included some for a pop of color!
I staged them among some chicken wire that I stuffed in the vase.

The table runner (from Pier 1 last year) has a cute applique on both ends.

I adore these Bethany Lowe pieces. Old fashioned and patriotic!

This is a little design I created from Hobby Lobby.  The potted geraniums came in this aged planter.  I slipped in a potting tray and placed them in this wire basket (all found at Hobby Lobby) and I'm real happy with how it turned out!

Inspired by Flowers

I collected a couple of flowers from my gardens.  The peonies have been blooming through this past week and there are still some iris in bloom.

The white peonies are the most fragrant and intoxicating.  As I wandered towards the garden to cut some I was greeted with their gorgeous scent.

The iris have been holding up pretty well during all the wind and rain we've had lately but this one was bent over so I snipped it and brought it indoors.

I was inspired to create this little vignette with a cherry scented candle, a goose figurine and of course the flowers.

Last Friday I cleaned around the house and took apart the plate rack and decided it was time for a summer look.

Continuing with my flower inspiration I brought out these Pier 1 floral dishes that I purchased during one of their sales and I adore them.  The colors and the flower pattern are perfect for summer!

I decided to keep the green cabbage leaf dishes on the plate rack and I love how they look with these dishes behind them.

A Jim Shore bird house I found at Lowe's several years ago.  I treasure it and it will never really be used outdoors for the birds!

Our area is all about the cherries.  Every so often I find a cookbook with cherry recipes and this is one. A lot of our local stores sell things like this since cherries are a big draw up here.  They have the National Cherry Festival every year around the 4th of July for a week.  Tons of visitors arrive!

One of the few MacKenzie Childs pieces I have.

I can't be positive if I bought this lamb at Hobby Lobby or another store.  I stuck a potted faux cabbage in it just for extra cuteness!

I also got the salad plates and brought out two of my fleur de-lis mugs to go with the setting.

Inspired by flowers!
