The album was their first fully self-produced one. Like the preceding album "A Night at the Opera," this album was named for a famous film--Un día en las carreras (1937) by the The Marx Brothers. Peaking at #1 for the UK, The Netherlands and Japan, and reaching #5 for the USA on the Billboard 200 Album Chart. It was also Queen's fifth album to reach Gold Record status in the US, eventually reaching Platinum Record and then Double Platinum status for the US market, and also reaching Platinum status for Canada, the UK, and Poland.
