Angelo Diaz is history in the making.
With his portrayal of Harry Belafonte in the groundbreaking play LORRAINE, and his 4th successful season on TVOne's hit show ATL HOMICIDE, and leading the reboot of the legendary Copacabana nightclub, Mr. Diaz continues to push the culture forward.
On ATL HOMICIDE, Angelo and his costar Chris Diaz relive the real cases of two of the most prominent homicide detectives in American history: David Quinn & Vince Velasquez.
Angelo shines in his portrayal of David Quinn, and the aptly named "Diaz Brothers" are a fan favorite amid the high stakes drama of the show.
With four seasons as TVONE's #1 hit show, ATL HOMICIDE also airs internationally as HOMICIDE'S ELITE on CBS channels in Australia, South Africa, the U.K., and over 15 countries.
Fluent in Spanish, and born in Miami of a Cuban Mother and an Ethiopian Father, Angelo is due to break some stereotypical casting molds.
His culturally rich backstory plays a huge part in Angelo's approach to his craft. Thanks to an unstable childhood growing up in Miami, Angelo spent his early years navigating a revolving door of environments. Always moving, always adapting to Miami's famously diverse neighborhoods, such as Little Haiti, Overtown, Miami Beach and Little Havana, and constantly adjusting to the dangers with-in.
As he grew into a college football player, Angelo honed his love for teamwork & competition.
And as a combat medic for the U.S. Marines, Angelo honed his love for service & duty.
After completing his military service, Diaz immersed himself in the craft of Acting. He began with training at The Booking Room ATL and included Susan Batson Studios in NYC, Identity Acting School, and private coaching with Vince Pisani in Atlanta.
But, Angelo really learned the craft as a young child in Miami, always moving from neighborhood to neighborhood, and learning from the vast mix of sociology.
This is what fuels Angelo's ability to connect with masses of people in an individual, distinct way.
And, his skills are on display several times a year as Angelo tours the country hosting the revolutionary fashion week experience: Bovtiqve Fashion Week. As the Global Ambassador of BVFW, Angelo and his team provide a "NCAA" model for the fashion, beauty, and entertainment industries.
And with the return of The Copacabana, Angelo is rebooting the most famous legacy in entertainment history.
The Copa is renowned for it's heritage of breaking show business giants to the heart of mainstream success, such as Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis Jr., Berry Gordy, Sam Cooke, The Supremes, Quincy Jones, Clarence Avant, Richard Pryor, Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Daddy Yankee, Fat Joe, Nicki Minaj, and countless others.
As the Creative Director of The Copacabana, Angelo will help the brand usher in it's new era of pop culture history.
But, Angelo's favorite thing to do is invest his energy into generating game-changing film and television content. His Mama, Inés Diaz-Owen, dedicated her life to activism and was known as a journalist and Professor of creative writing. And as soon as he was born, Angelito was her #1 student. This early love for story telling is what fuels his content creation.
Angelo Diaz is also fueled by a passion for uplifting underprivileged youth.
As a survivor of unfortunate childhood experiences, Angelo's drive is summarized beautifully by the famous Tupac quote: "I'm not saying I'm gonna change the world, but I guarantee that I will spark the brain that will change the world".
