Magnifica

Pacifica is an animated short film based on the true story of Pacifica Zelaya, a talented Costa Rican harpist who studied at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in the early 1900s but was tragically killed by her fiancé. Executed in a classic animation style, the film portrays her final evening as she prepares for, performs at, and celebrates after a concert.

The contrast between the two characters is striking: as the story unfolds, Pacifica's scenes grow brighter and more vivid with light and color, while her fiancé's scenes grow darker until he is shown almost entirely in shadow. The film not only honors Pacifica's memory but also speaks out against domestic homicide, shedding light on the enduring harm of femicide.
