Okay I don't get any of yall. Listen man. It's become like a new wave or trend if you'll call it that to call all new movies, TV series or new music albums from a loved artist who wrote and performed their brand new art and they all call it not good
or mid compared to earlier episodes or previous music. I just don't get why it's become a thing all this hating...when yall could never write better. This has been the best season next to the first 3 seasons. Fr if not it might be the best season so far that's out bruh. Love it and I'm a big fan that thought Season 5 was really not that good like everyone else says..season 4 was just okay. But guys this episode might be the greatest episode ever released in a while guys. I died laughing the whole time. The breaking the 4th wall was so funny more than other episodes when they tried in this show or others.
The whole episode was so funny man. "Jesus baned me morty" "having Jesus come at us, have you not seen south park" the whole previously on beginning was amazingly smart and funny. Being dragged through the opening credits was cool, original and funny. Some of the bad guys powers were cool too
But my favorite joke to come at these weird critics was when he said 7 critics were gona watch and basically say they don't like it when they were gona say that without watching to begin with, with how they explained it. This new wave and trend is toxic and wrong, yall ain't actually paying attention dude...or not listening to the song right. But my very favorite joke was when dude said " when you get home, go back to doing some classic adventures like in Season 1" rick replys to all you and the hardcore fans that complain "I'm so sick of that note. What does that even mean!", yall complain bout every episode but I don't get it, if all the episodes from Season 4 or 5 to the episode now are so bad...... then just why do yall keep watching the show if it never gets better or shows 1 good episode so I feel like maybe yall are Cappimg. Ppl love hating on a very successful show. When it reaches that point ppll tend to do the opposite and want to act different just like when a horror movie is said to be so good and scary. They hear that. Watch it then then laugh the whole movie, making fun of it to not be scared like they really are.
Ppl want to act different to be different from.the majority. Like I said disagreeing and going the opposite way of the majority of which way they take it is like this new trend going on and it's just so dumb. But that's all I needed to say. This was the best episode in a long time.

Funny episode, well thought, amusing and it's a good thing about this show, crazy plots and sci-fi insane sequences. Not the most original episode, but entertaining! But I came here to comment just because of the wining "fans" here. You guys are never satisfied, just waiting for the episode to come out to make negative comments, and being bullies. What do you want? Such negative people here, probably bringing personal issues to a cartoon show that is by far one of the funniest, original and entertaining I've ever seen. Some say they will not watch anymore, please do that and leave the show alone!
There is a big difference between clever and obfuscated, and this episode is more of the latter than the former. It is so needlessly obfuscated that you could lose your patience easily. I did, I had to pause a few times to just hear what Rick was saying. That's a bad sign. It means the writers are running out of ideas and now just want to appear clever. The meta-ness in the episode was pretty high and at some point, it was so meta that it stopped being fun. After seeing meta fourth wall breaking things a gazillion times, it no more looks like a clever tool to most of us. Hope the show gets better hereafter and that the writers stop cramming clever-sounding empty long dialogues.
Let me preface this, that I am not a literary writer or that well versed in narrative structure (I'm just a Professor in science and art), or have any inclination on how difficult this show or any content is to create these days. However, watching them break down through actual characters the parts of a script for something like Rick and Morty in an acutal Rick and Morty episode is so mind bending that I'm basically left here awestruck. As well, it fully discloses the struggles Harmon and Roiland have for supplying funny, creative, orginal content to satisfy their target audience but also themselves. I see some low marks for this episode and I'm not usually one to perch myself on a high steep of IQ, but frankly 'you seriously didn't get it'. Sorry, that's just how I feel on this one. That opening intro is one for the ages too. As soon as I think they might be getting apathetic with making this show, they drop this masterpiece that hits a new level of intelligence required.
Personally, I can only take a certain amount of meta while still being engaged in the story. When characters repeatedly tell you that what's happening isn't real, but just a story, you inevitably lose all the stakes. Really, this is something that can happen in any art form, if you keep deconstructing it, you eventually end up with nothing.
Of course, being what it is, this episode brings up this very point. Rick says something along the lines of "meta works in a comment here or there, but if you base a whole story on it, it breaks down". When characters blatantly point out the problems with the story they're in, at best it comes across as self-deprecating, and at worst, as obnoxious and irritating. What it doesn't do, is fixing the problem. It's just the writer saying, "I know this is flawed but I'm doing it anyway", or maybe "I know what you're going to dislike about this, so I'm saying it first to get ahead of you".
At its best, Rick and Morty gives you funny jokes and an engaging story, this had one of those things. The jokes carry the episode and make it worth watching, (the Self-Referential Six was a personal highlight) even though it's very hard to care about anything that is happening.
