There are no words that can express what I am feeling right now.. I did not expect this art.. I did not expect this narrative depth.. I did not expect this philosophy.. this writing.. this masterpiece.. I am literally shocked.. I did not cry or be affected by an anime episode in a long time. I've been watching an anime like this for a long time... Yes... This is what I was waiting for... This anime... It's a masterpiece... A mixture of feelings, memories, and the philosophy of destiny... Mystery, dialogues, and creative visual production. Everything was made in a perfect way.. There's a lot of talk in my heart, it's only for the first episode.. and I can sum it all up in one word.. 10/10..
The episode is full of emotions. Robot content was never my type, but I decided to give this anime a chance, just because the writer is Naoki Urasawa. I am not rating this episode because of him, but because of the strength of the storyline, the mystery of the events, the characters... everything was... I can't find suitable words... I loved Astroboy since I was a kid.. but I never expected that you could turn a story for kids into a masterpiece with these events. Thanks again to the writer for this art. Even though I've only seen the first ep I don't expect less than this in the next episodes.
No words, genuinely no words. This is quite possible one of the best first episodes of all time.
I know a lot about Naoki Urasawa but haven't got round to reading any of his works yet. I have however, watched all of the Monster anime, which is the best anime of all time (my opinion). So when I saw that the anime of 'Pluto' had released and it has his name written on it of course I felt obliged to watching it. But bloody hell I was not expecting it to be this masterful.
The first half has a great introduction to our main character, and sets the mood of what's to come. But then the second half completely changes as it tells the story of a grumpy bitter old renowned piano composer and his butler, North No. 2. After watching heaps and heaps of anime I can say that the writing for these two characters are phenomenal and found myself in awe at the creativeness and the level of detail in which (presuming) Urasawa was writing in.
Please give the first episode a watch. I haven't seen the other episodes yet but if they continue to be at this level then this may be better than monster. Thank you for reading my review, I hope all of you will enjoy episode 1 of Naoki Urasawa's 'Pluto' as much as I did.

This is an amazing first episode. The concept and scope was nailed. It feels like a love death and robots episode that makes you think. Think about life and how we perceive humans. The animation is on another level and helps bring life to the story be portrayed. You feel like you're in the house with these characters. The direction the show is heading makes you want to stay and find out. I'm hooked and can see this being one of my highest rated shows. Hopefully netflix will continue to bring this type of energy into their anime's. I really believe this will become a classic just off this first episode.
Pluto's premiere sets a visually striking but uneven tone for Naoki Urasawa's reimagined Astro Boy tale. Studio M2's animation is a standout, blending crisp hand-drawn art with subtle CGI to create a vivid sci-fi world.
The somber exploration of robots and humanity hits emotional chords, hinting at the series' depth. However, the hour-long episode drags with heavy exposition and a slow pace, making the murder mystery's setup feel labored.
Some inconsistencies in character motivations and world-building logic slightly disrupt immersion. While Gesicht's detective role intrigues, the episode leans too heavily on telling over showing, which may test viewer patience.
Still, the art and thematic ambition make it watchable. A solid, if not gripping, start.
