Reviewers say 'MobLand' offers a gritty, intense crime drama experience with standout performances, particularly from Tom Hardy. While many praise the strong cast and engaging storyline, some criticize the show for its reliance on clichés, inconsistent tone, and problematic accents. The series is lauded for its dark humor, complex characters, and high production value, though it faces criticism for its portrayal of violence and lack of sympathetic characters. Overall, 'MobLand' is seen as a compelling yet flawed addition to the crime drama genre, with a mix of positive and negative feedback highlighting its strengths and weaknesses.

The first word that comes to my mind after watching Mobland is...amazing! Mobland is about two mob families that are in a war with each other that threatens everyone lives and the empires they work for. In the middle is a fixer named Harry Da Souza (Tom Hardy) who tries to stop these two families from eliminating each other. The cast is just brilliant...Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan lead a terrific cast who are all at the top of their game here. Mobland is directed by Guy Ritchie so if you're a fan of his you'll love this and if you're not you'll still love it. This is easily one of the best shows of the year and I hope we get multiple seasons of it. It's a gritty drama with plenty of action and twists to keep you entertained throughout each episode. I really can't recommend this show enough.
MobLand is nothing but BRILLIANT 💎 Excellent all the way. Great actors, great acting, great story, perfect photography, perfect tempo. And, last but not least, Tom Hardy is absolutely fantastic as Harry.
I'm running out of superlatives but still need some characters to be able to post this.
Thank you 🙏🏻

MobLand is a crime drama that delivers strong characters, tension, and psychological depth-even if it sometimes reaches beyond its limits. Led by a standout cast including Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren, this Guy Ritchie-produced series brings slow-burning suspense and emotional weight to the classic gangster story.
Tom Hardy is excellent as Harry Da Souza-quiet, intense, and fiercely loyal. He adds power to every scene he's in. Brosnan and Mirren, though their Irish accents have divided opinions, still grab attention, even if their performances sometimes feel a bit over-the-top. The supporting cast-Geoff Bell, Paddy Considine, and Lara Pulver-help build a world where loyalty, power, and betrayal constantly clash.
Visually, MobLand strikes a good balance between Ritchie-style flair and a more grounded, realistic tone. The cinematography is sharp, the music adds to the mood, and the direction keeps things focused. While the early episodes move slowly, the story picks up mid-season, offering twists that feel natural, not forced. The season finale leaves a few questions unanswered-enough to make you want more, without feeling unfinished.
The show's weak spots include inconsistent accents, some underdeveloped characters, and a few overly dramatic moments. Still, these flaws are outweighed by strong writing and powerful scenes.
In short, MobLand doesn't reinvent the gangster genre, but it gives it new energy. If you're looking for a smart, character-focused crime drama, this is well worth watching. Just don't expect Snatch-this one's darker, more serious, and takes its time to unfold.

This really slapped man... So, so good, so gripping, tense but addictive, binge-worthy, although I took a big break until the last three episodes of the season.
Absolutely loved the song on the opening credits, it's so classic MTV, also I cannot believe this IS produced by MTV, they actually do good stuff still???
The cast is absolutely gorgeous, so many talented people all in one place, all at their best, but also the writing and the dialogues really give them a lot to work work with.
Mirren and Brosnan, what a mad couple, what mad individuals and even madder for staying together. Hardy is so expressive with minimal to none face movements, just staring at his opponents like he is five steps ahead. Mythical really. The ladies do a lot of suffering here as mob wives, well except for Mirren who loves it.
It's outrageous, it's gory, it's creatively sweary, pushing all sorts of moral boundaries for sure. Very British. I don't know if I wanna watch the second season though, whenever that will be. I am becoming tired of multi-season shows.

MobLand is a proper gem, easily one of the best British gangster shows in years. Helen Mirren is ice-cold as Bella Harrigan, Pierce Brosnan oozes charm & danger, and Tom Hardy brings real grit to Harry Da Souza. Paddy Considine's tortured Kevin is spot on.
The supporting cast aren't just there to pad the story line, they all add to the dynamics of the plot & each has played an important part by the end of the series.
The story moves fast, the dialogue hits hard, and there's no filler. It's not just about gangsters, it's about family, power, & what people do when the pressure's on. Every scene feels tense, but it never goes over the top.
It looks great too. Stylish without being flashy, with a soundtrack that keeps things simmering underneath & the best use of "The Beast in Me" by Johnny Cash in a series ever. You believe in this world, and you want to stay in it.
Absolutely brilliant.

- TriviaThe series was originally intended to be a prequel to Ray Donovan. In February 2024, Paramount+ released the premise of the series, which was to be titled the Donovans, stating, "With the most powerful clients in Europe, The Donovans will see family fortunes and reputations at risk. Odd alliances unfold, and betrayal around every corner; and while the family might be London's most elite fixers today, the nature of their business means there is no guarantee what's in store tomorrow." The story was believed to be centered around Ray Donovan's character, which would explore the rise and formation of his criminal enterprise. Guy Ritchie was named as the director and executive producer. In October 2024, Paramount+ announced that the spinoff idea was called off and the show was rewritten to become its own standalone series with no narrative connection to Ray Donovan. Guy Ritchie remained on the creative team.
