By no means a masterpiece, but still a watchable movie...
While sci-fi is generally not my go-to type of movies for entertainment, I do sit down to watch the occasional one every now and again. And thus, as I had the opportunity to sit down and watch "Altered", without knowing what I was in for here, I opted to give the movie a fair chance. I had actually never even heard about the movie prior to stumbling upon it by sheer random luck.
The storyline was pretty straightforward, and actually proved entertaining enough for what it was, so writer Timo Vuorensola did manage to pull it off well enough here.
Of the entire cast ensemble in the movie, I was only familiar with Tom Felton and Richard Brake. The acting performances in "Altered" were good.
Visually then the movie was actually good. I liked the special effects and the way that writer and director Timo Vuorensola opted to present the somewhat bleak dystopian future that the movie was set in.
Watchable, for sure, but "Altered" is hardly a movie with contents to support more than a single viewing.
My rating of writer and director Timo Vuorensola's 2025 movie "Altered" lands on a five out of ten stars.

Someone should've "altered" the execution.
While the idea and plot itself actually really wasn't the worst, and environments were depicted properly. Some effects were "enough" to know what's going on even though all I saw was "strength" and some weird effects with "flowers". The execution itself lacked severely; Tom tried to do this justice, I feel; I didn't love it per say. As did his colleagues. It just felt like a short movie made by foreigners (non-native English) being dragged out too long while still hopping from branch to tree. Audio editing was subpar and uneven, and I saw a lot of scene cuts that were supposed to depict the chosen soundtrack and vibe, but just missed it entirely creating the feeling of incompleteness and unneeded chaos... Did this movie flop in my opinion? Sadly, yes.
Unnecessary
As a fan of Timo Vuorensola (Iron Sky), I have to say, I do like an unabashed sci-fi that revels in it's own silliness. This film however is by no means Iron Sky. Even with an 85 minute run time, it feels like sitting through a three hour episode of the worst Outer Limits episode ever; the only problem being there's no cool twist at the end and it was written by a child who has never seen a movie.
Avoid.
Avoid.
Unwatchable
Whoever did the sound did a real bad job. It sounds dubbed. Sometimes the characters sound like being in a big room when talking in the street.
The action scenes are completely laughable. When the anti genetics slaughter everyone in a restaurant there is not a drop of blood.
The grand piano was obviously made of cardboard. Common.
The editing is is equally terrible.
I just watched it to see if it was really consistenly bad. It is.

When writing matters
A classic B-movie with great potential! The writing for the characters were non-existent, ab-lip improvising may have done a better job. It looked-like the actors paid for their own props and costumes! AI would ave done a better job for CGI including the lack-of cinematic surround-views which could've included more back-ground details based on the story-line! The acting I did not mind, as everyone seemed comfortable on-what they were-doing!
