Scottish-born actress whose career was divided among movies, theatre and radio. A 1959 musical version in London of "Marigold" saw her not in her old starring role but in a lesser part.
Her performance in Marigold (1938) brought an invitation to Hollywood to appear
in Nurse Edith Cavell (1939), but disillusionment sent her back to England in 1943, where
she continued to appear in plays.
