Champak Bansal: Independence at 18 is fine but come back when your parents need you. What sort of a deal is this where you use your parents till you're 18 and then you go away in the name of freedom. The only expectation parents have is that their kids are around to hold their hand when they need them.

A bond between a father and a daughter is irrationally strong even through thick and thin times. This has been very well explained in seqel to 2017's super-hit film
Hindi Medium, Angrezi Medium which is not only thought- provoking but also sends out a great social message.
Angrezi Medium tells the story of a sweet owner shop and a widower (Irrfan Khan) who does every thing under the sun to get his daughter (Radhika Madan) admitted to the most popular school in London.
Homi Adajania (Being Cyrus, Finding Fanny and Cocktail) takes the director's seat this time from Saket Chaudhary (Pyaar Ka Side Effects, Shaadi Ke Side Effects and Hindi Medium). Since the first part was immensely likable, it had also created a mammoth expectation for the sequel. Surprisingly, when Angrezi Medium rolls out, the forced comedy scenes, writings and even story does not go anywhere and just becomes passable in first half. However, it is the second half where the film gathers the steam. The movie becomes a laugh-riot and few scenes will definitely bring down the house. The scene where Irrfan Khan and Deepak Dobriyal consults Pankaj Tripathi to enter the path to London. Another scene where Irrfan Khan, Ranveer Shorey and Deepak Dobriyal goes at the auction event in London is laugh-a-thon. The film focuses on young Indian student's obsession to study abroad despite exorbitant fees and the struggle their parents go through in consuming the huge amount to pay the fees. The film also deals with social messages when kids leave their parent as they turn 18 to live their own independent life as they feel burdened to stay with their old parents.
The film does have it share of flaws as well. While Hindi Medium had amazing songs like "Ek Jindari" and "Suit Suit", this one had the passable ones. The editing should have been trimmed by another 10-12 mins. Art direction and Cinematography is simple with an average background score. The screenplay is good but loses somewhere in the film and writing takes a back seat especially in the first half. Despite the shortcomings, Angrezi Medium is a commendable watch thanks to the brilliant performances by Ranvir Shorey, Dimple Kapadia, Kiku Sharda, Kareena Kapoor and Pankaj Tripathi (who shines in just 5 minutes scene). Angrezi Medium rest on the shoulders of two outsatnding actors - Deepak Dobriyal and Irrfan Khan. Deepak Dobriyal is undoubtedly gem of an actor playing various characters ( Pappi in Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Raiju Tiwari in Omkara or Shyam Prakash in Hindi Medium) with ease. The actor just adds spark to the film every time he appears on-screen. Irrfan Khan is an epitome of talent who surprises you with subtle humor which will tickle your funny bone.Watch for him as he tries to play "good" father" with perfection. He definitely makes a very good come back.
Overall, Angrezi Medium is a treat to watch which boast off lot of humor and laugh to keep you entertained. Good 3/5
