The stupid, the zany and the plot holes.
I don't have much patience for stupid movies these days and Hallmark sure has a plethora of them.
I took an immediate dislike to the lead female because the first time we see her, her nose is so far up in the air she'd probably drown if it were raining. I blame the director for not correcting that mistake. Usually, that would be enough for me and I would turn off the show or movie. (Even though it was only a couple of minutes in.) I just have no patience for stupidity in so-called entertainment. However, I generally do like mysteries, so I decided to stick with it to see if it had any redeeming qualities.
Fortunately, shortly after her first disastrous appearance, we see the lead actress again. This time, we see her dealing with a weakness and she becomes more real and relatable. At first glance I didn't think the chemistry would work between the lead man and woman, but it worked. Enough. No great passion there, but it was 'comfortable.'
It seems this is being primed to be a series and if they decide to go forward with it, I sure hope they get rid of all the 'stupid,' and 'zany.' I realize humor is very individual, but I don't know anybody who likes stupid humor. It's enough to create a mystery series. A couple of moments of lightheartedness is fine, but making the lead investigator a bumbling fool is not cute or entertaining. It's a huge turn-off. Why do they think women want to see men behaving as incapable idiots? Here's a tip, Hallmark. We don't.
Having the male lead be into robots is fine. But having him act like a clueless boob while tailing someone (a huge part of the job he aspires to) is not fine. STOP it with the stupid. (I could go on ...)
Also, clean up the GIGANTIC plot holes. Who called the police after Kyle ran out of the building? That was never answered. Nor was Birdie's personal vice dealt with after it was introduced. And get rid of the stupidly obnoxious mother. Gosh, who wants to watch that? Seriously, sometimes I wonder if the people who make these things have any brains at all. If they make another, I'll give it a try to see if improvements have been made. If not, I'll turn it off at the first hint of stupidity. I'm not expecting much ...
Best part for me was the mobster and his ham.
