This is a story about very shady times in Serbia which focuses on one family through out breakdown of former Yugoslavia in a decade of war, crime wave and moral declining. In every episode we see main characters Jaksic family struggling to survive through sanctions, inflation, electricity cutouts and while they are in problems, their neighbors Neska and Stole Petrovic( excellent performances by Dusanka Stojanovic and Branko Vidakovic) are becoming very successful and wealthy in a society where thieves are welcomed and highly praised. We also follow whole bunch of characters that are connected to each other by very unhappy destiny in these harsh times.

The series talks about us today, which is also inferred from the title, about the bitter fruits that we have tasted in recent decades, about politicians, about silicone singers, drug dealers and their consumers.
