Veteran soap opera actress Marj Dusay, whose long list of daytime-tv credits included stints on Guiding Light, Santa Barbara, All My Children and Days of Our Lives, has died. She was 83.
During Dusay’s decades-long daytime career, she established herself as one of the industry’s most reliable recasts. Dusay made her suds debut in 1983 when she replaced Carolyn Jones as Washington, D.C. matriarch Myrna Clegg on CBS’ Capitol. Following that show’s cancellation in 1987, Dusay jumped to NBC’s Santa Barbara, where she took over the role of Mason Capwell’s mentally unstable mother Pamela from actress Shirley Ann Field.

Vincent Irizarry is on his way to “The Bold and the Beautiful” to play Dr. Jordan Armstrong starting on Monday, August 26. The daytime veteran explained to TV Insider, “This was at the request of Brad Bell [executive producer/head writer]. He reached out to my [representatives] and I learned that they had this role they’d like me to do. It’s recurring and I can say that it has to do with the baby reveal [that Phoebe is really Beth]. I’ll be playing opposite all the main characters.”
The actor is no stranger to soaps. Far from it. He got his start on “Guiding Light,” where he earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for Best Younger Actor in 1986 for playing Lujack Luvonoczek. After that character was killed off he spent a couple of years on “Santa Barbara” before returning to “Gl” as Lujack’s twin brother Nick from 1991 to 1996.

This year Jacqueline MacInnes Wood earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for Best Actress for her role as Steffy Forrester on “The Bold and the Beautiful.” It’s her fourth nomination overall but her first as a leading lady, which puts her in elite company. It makes her only the fifth woman to achieve the triple crown of nominations as a younger, supporting and lead actress. But she still hasn’t won. Is this her year?
MacInnes Wood achieved all of her nominations in the span of just seven years. She picked up a pair of Best Younger Actress bids (2012-2013), which she lost to Christel Khalil (“The Young and the Restless”) and Kristen Alderson (“General Hospital”), respectively. When she returned to the Emmy lineup in 2018 she had aged out of the younger category (the cutoff is 26), so she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress, but lost to Camryn Grimes (“Y...
