Lego has proven it can deliver when it comes to animated fare, but what about live-action? Deadline reports that The Lego Group is developing three live-action movies with Universal Pictures and has tapped some major directors to help. Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman), Jake Kasdan (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle), and Joe Cornish (Attack the Block) will each direct a Lego movie.
As for the plot of these three movies, they’re under wraps, but I’ll admit that I’m intrigued by what Lego has planned for these live-action projects. Jenkins will direct her project, which she also co-wrote with former DC Entertainment President Geoff Johns and will produce through her Wicious Pictures banner. As for Kasdan, he will direct from a script by Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul based on an original idea and a previous draft by Matt Mider and Kevin Burrows. He will also produce with Melvin Mar...

Universal Pictures and the Lego Group are linking up for three live-action movies centering on the toy line of interlocking blocks.
Directors Jake Kasdan (Red One), Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman) and Joe Cornish (Attack the Block) are each developing a separate Lego film. The projects are in the works and have yet to announce titles or loglines.
Kasdan’s feature has a script from Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul (The D Train) after Matt Rider and Kevin Burrows (The Pickup) wrote a previous version. Lego Group’s Jill Wilfert and Ryan Christians serve as producers, as do Kasdan and Melvin Mar for Detective Agency.
Jenkins helms a film from a screenplay she co-wrote with Geoff Johns (Wonder Woman 1984). Jenkins produces for Wicious Pictures, alongside Wilfert and Christians.

Jesus Christ, three more Lego movies? Yes, three additional films about the beloved Danish interlocking blocks are being developed at Universal. Presumably riding high off the unending enthusiasm surrounding animated Pharrell propaganda, Piece By Piece, Universal and Lego are connecting for three movies about the barefoot's worst enemy: Lego blocks.

In the season 4 premiere of Superman & Lois, we learned that Lex Luthor is in cahoots with an unseen character called "Milton." He created the box which will house the Man of Steel's heart, though Amanda McCoy warns Lex not to inflate the "braniac's" ego with his praise for the device.
It didn't take comic book fans long to figure out that Milton is likely Milton Fine, a very early iteration of Brainiac who wasn't an alien and instead performed as a sideshow mentalist ("The Amazing Brainiac").
Now, it's been confirmed that Fine is indeed coming to Superman & Lois during the show's fourth and final season.
"Considering what we needed for our story, when the opportunity presented itself to use Milton, it worked out great," executive producer Brent Fletcher told ComicBook.com in a recent interview. "This is a completely different version of this guy, so that was exciting. We always...

Most of you will know Elizabeth Henstridge best for her role as Jemma Simmons in Marvel Television's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but she's also stepped behind the camera to helm episodes of that, Gotham Knights, and Superman & Lois.
Today, ComicBook.com brings word that the actor will play Lex Luthor's daughter in season 4! The character doesn't have a name yet but it's said that "Luthor is fixated on reuniting with his daughter, who left in her teens when Lex was convicted of murder and went to jail."
While Henstridge will direct episode five of Superman & Lois, how many instalments of the 10-episode fourth and final season she'll appear in as this character is unclear.
Talking about the casting, executive producer Brent Fletcher said, "I worked with her on Agents of Shield, and she's unbelievable. She's an unbelievable actress and just the greatest person to work with.

The negative critical response to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League left Ben Affleck with doubts about continuing as the DC Extended Universe's Caped Crusader.
While he wrote a screenplay alongside Geoff Johns, the actor ultimately chose to walk away from the director's chair of The Batman. He even hung up the cape and cowl - meaning Matt Reeves could reboot the hero with Robert Pattinson - until his brief return in The Flash last year.
That was meant to lead to bigger things but...we all know how that turned out.
Little has been revealed about Affleck's The Batman. However, it's believed Slade Wilson/Deathstroke (Joe Manganiello) would arrive in Gotham City looking for revenge, with Zack Snyder's Justice League confirming the plan was for Lex Luthor to tell the assassin who's beneath the cape and cowl (payback for being locked in Arkham Asylum at...

Justice League: War was released in 2014 as part of the DC Universe Animated Original Movies franchise. It is based on the Geoff Johns and Jim Lee comic book Justice League: Origin, which was a part of The New 52, DC's reboot in the 2010s. The New 52 brought lots of new origins to the DC universe, not least among them was the Justice League.
The most obvious difference between the movie and the comic book is the roster. Granted, the rosters are mostly the same in both versions, but with one difference: In the movie, Aquaman is replaced by Shazam. Justice League: War still features Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Green Lantern, The Flash, and Cyborg, but it is Shazam who stands in for Aquaman in this adaptation.
Justice League: War's connection to Origins
The villain is Darkseid in both, the ruler of the planet Apokolips. Darkseid's intimidating presence and army of parademons are featured in both.

Earlier this week, we brought you the official synopses for Superman & Lois' upcoming two-part premiere. Now, that's been followed by a synopsis for the entire fourth season!
This one sheds more light on Lex Luthor's twisted master plan and what we can expect from supporting characters like John Henry Irons, Chrissy Beppo, and Kyle Cushing. As for the Man of Steel himself, all we learn here is that he's "locked in a ferocious, moon-wrecking battle" with Doomsday.
If The CW is planning to adapt the Death and Resurrection of Superman from the comics, we're not exactly shocked his role in this fourth and final season is being kept under wraps.
Here's the full Superman & Lois season 4 synopsis:

Ray Fisher made headlines for what he described as Joss Whedon’s "gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable" behaviour on the set of Justice League’s reshoots.
After sending shockwaves through Hollywood, Non-Disclosure Agreements mean the actor has been unable to share specifics for the most part, while WarnerMedia’s underwhelming conclusion from their investigation failed to shed any light on the repercussions for those involved (Fisher has frequently mentioned Geoff Johns and Jon Berg for allegedly being complicit in Whedon’s actions).
Whedon's career is seemingly over after similar claims of abusive behaviour surfaced and Fisher has largely moved on, something he acknowledged while discussing his role as Lymon, the best friend of lead character Boy Willie Charles, played by John David Washington, in Netflix's The Piano Lesson.
"What helped this entire process is, I’ve got to give it up to August Wilson," the Rebel Moon actor explained.

We recently learned that Superman & Lois will return for its fourth and final season a little sooner than expected on October 7 and The CW has just shared the official descriptions for the two-part premiere.
The first is titled "The End & The Beginning" and teases, "Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) is locked in a brutal battle with Luthor’s monster; Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) and the boys race against time to save General Lane (Dylan Walsh). Gregory Smith directed the episode written by Brent Fletcher & Todd Helbing."
The second episode is going to be called "A World Without" but this synopsis understandably offers no real insights into the outcome of the Man of Steel's battle with Doomsday.
However, it sounds like Lex Luthor is still on the loose and about to enact his twisted plan for Smallville. "Lana (Emmanuelle Chriqui) and Sarah (Inde Navarrette) join the fight against Luthor (Michael Cudlitz), who starts making moves in Smallville.

The Flash was a spin-off of the 2012 show, Arrow and a part of the same fictional universe, called the Arrowverse. The show premiered on 7 October 2014 and ran for nine seasons until 24 May 2023. It received a positive response from the audience and even won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite New TV Drama in 2014.
Most fans don’t know that it was originally supposed to be a backdoor pilot, but Grant Gustin’s positive reception by the audience sealed the deal. The actor appeared twice on Arrow and his portrayal of Barry Allen won the audience over. Another aspect that got him the role was Gustin’s chemistry with actress Emily Bett Rickards aka, Felicity. The creators wanted to explore the pair and their possible romance inspired an entire show.

The CW has confirmed today that the fourth and final season of Supergirl & Lois will premiere sooner than expected.
In response to ABC creating an 8 pm - 10 pm game show block on Mondays for Celebrity Wheel Of Fortune and Press Your Luck, The Wranglers is moving from Thursday to Monday, swapping nights with Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit.
With Tuesdays and Fridays spoken for thanks to WWE Nxt and Inside The NFL, the only choice was to move Superman & Lois, meaning it's now set to debut on Monday, October 7 instead of October 17.
Don't worry, though, because we're still getting the originally scheduled two-hour premiere. Superman & Lois will then continue to air on Mondays at 8 pm for the duration of its final season.
The CW's President of Entertainment Brad Schwartz has taken the network in a vastly different direction since it was home to the Arrowverse and shows like Supernatural and Riverdale.

On August 16, 2024, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that comic writer Garth Ennis has written a script for a movie adaptation of his comic series "Crossed". Ennis' "Crossed" script has been acquired by the indie production company Six Studios.
These days, Ennis is most known as co-creator of "The Boys" (alongside artist Darick Robertson), the vicious superhero parody that's become one of Prime Video's premier programs. If you think "The Boys" can indulge in ultra violence and bad taste, you ain't seen nothing yet.
Published by Avatar Press, "Crossed" has well over 100 issues to its name, spread out over various mini-series and the long-running "Crossed: Badlands." Alan Moore even wrote the "Crossed +100" installment. What is this horror tale of epic length about? "Crossed" is basically Ennis' take on a zombie apocalypse.

Batman: Arkham is one of the most popular video game series out there. Developed by Rocksteady Studios and WB Games, the games in the series are considered to be amazing in several aspects and still have a fanbase. The fourth main game in the series, Batman Arkham Knight, was released back in 2015.
The game has been very well received, but the original story was intended to be very different that the one fans got. This is because the developers decided to go with Geoff Johns’ story instead of Paul Dini’s.
Batman Arkham Knight Originally Had a Different Story
Batman Arkham Knight was released in 2015 and was set nine months after the events of Arkham City. The game’s story followed Batman as he confronts Scarecrow after the attack on Gotham City with the fear toxin, which caused evacuation from the city.

As soon as learned that James Gunn's Superman was set to be released in theaters next summer, Superman & Lois' days being numbered was inevitable (particularly with The CW eager to move on from making pricey scripted dramas).
As a result, the upcoming fourth season will be the show's last. However, the stakes will be higher than ever in the 10-episode send-off because all signs point to us getting an adaptation of the Death and Resurrection of Superman.
Someone - or something - has to kill the Man of Steel, of course, and in this instance, the series will follow the comics by pitting the hero against Doomsday.
In a newly released extended sneak peek, Superman gives it his all in his latest battle with the seemingly unstoppable monster. Their clash rages through space (likely a cheaper option than creating a VFX Metropolis) and that allows the Kryptonian to unleash...

Absolute Power corrupts absolutely.
That statement almost always holds true in the real world but not often in the world of mainstream superheroes, especially those published by DC Comics. No matter how bleak things get, the denizens of the DC Universe can always look up in the sky to find Superman, their shining beacon of hope.
That is, until Absolute Power, the new DC crossover event from the all-star comics team of writer Mark Waid and artist Dan Mora, shoots Superman through the heart. To make matters worse, the Justice League has disbanded, leaving Earth without its greatest heroes.
“I really expected Absolute Power to be a Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman story,” Waid admits to Den of Geek. “And instead, it became very much a book about a bunch of different heroes, [including] Dreamer, Jon Kent, and Nightwing.”

When you walk into David Maisel’s Los Angeles office, the first thing you see is a statue of Iron Man, one of the most recognizable superheroes in the world. Hanging on the wall above him is an illustration of a furry faced character named Grell, a hero far fewer people recognize, but who is getting the spotlight this week at San Diego Comic-Con.
Iron Man represents Maisel’s past as the founding chairman of Marvel Studios, where he had the idea for characters such as Iron Man, Captain America and Thor to live in a shared cinematic universe. Grell represents his future at Mythos Studios, where he is plotting a new cinematic universe called Ekos that will feature not just Grell, but potentially hundreds of other characters.

For years, fans theorised that Arrow's John Diggle was really John Stewart, a character better known to comic book readers as Green Lantern.
It's since been confirmed that the show's bosses considered combining both characters, only for Warner Bros. to step in because it had its own plans for the Stewart in theaters (the ill-fated Green Lantern Corps movie written by Geoff Johns).
Still, the final season of Arrow teased the possibility of Diggle becoming a member of the Corps when he opened a box and found a mysterious glowing green object inside; while it was never explicitly stated, the insinuation was that it was a Green Lantern ring.
Other DC TV shows followed Diggle's quest to open the box a second time, with Reverse-Flash eventually helping him to do so. Gifted with visions of the lives he could lead, the hero also known as Spartan rejected the unseen...

Will Beall was tapped to write a Justice League movie in 2011. Warner Bros. wanted to follow in the footsteps of Marvel Studios (The Avengers was released the following years) and even eyed Ben Affleck to direct long before he was cast as the Dceu's Batman.
Plans ultimately changed, with Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice laying the foundation for Zack Snyder's version of Justice League. Joss Whedon was enlisted for reshoots which completely changed the movie, only for Zack Snyder's Justice League to be released on streaming in 2021.
Will Beall received a writing credit on the latter version and has now opened up on why that might have been and how his script differed.
"I wouldn’t call my experience dysfunctional," he told The Wrap. "I can only speak about my experience. I didn’t have a dysfunctional experience on 'Aquaman.' I had...

James Gunn’s Superman is currently in its filming stage and many set photos have come out. The David Corenswet starrer will be the first chapter in Gunn’s new Dcu and sees a number of superheroes and DC characters making their first appearances. The set photos revealed characters from the upcoming show Creature Commandos also making a cameo.
In a recent set photo, Corenswet’s Superman is seen being arrested by a masked man with a ‘U’ crest on him. While many have speculated him to be Ultraman, the masked man might be the anti-hero Ulysses, and Gunn might use this character to introduce Batman into the Dcu.

Among the imminent releases are the ‘Creature Commandos’ animated series and ‘Superman,’ slated for 2025. However, plans changed when it was revealed in April 2020 that Johns would produce a Green Lantern Corps series for HBO Max, suggesting a shift in direction. The development of a Green Lantern project has seen some black nights over the years, but the bright green light of day is closer than ever. HBO has given a straight-to-series order for Lanterns, an eight-episode television event first announced as part of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios roadmap last year.
True Detective: Night Country executive producer/writer Chris Mundy will serve as showrunner, co-writing alongside Damon Lindelof and Eisner Award-winning comic scribe Tom King (who’s also getting a “based on” credit for the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow film). All three will also serve as executive producers on Lanterns, a crime drama centered on the iconic characters Hal Jordan and John Stewart.
Bringing on Mundy and Lindelof aligns with what Safran and Gunn previously shared about the show. “Our vision is much more True Detective, terrestrial-based investigation story,” Safran said when announcing the series in 2023. Indeed,...

While there were a slew of issues with the Dceu, it must be noted that the camaraderie that the cast enjoyed with each other was undeniable. However, while there were some members of the cast who felt like they were living out their childhoods with all the superhero costumes, there was one actor who was stuck in a CGI complaint jumpsuit, thanks to the nature of his character’s powers.

It’s been quite some time since 2011’s Green Lantern ran the property into the ground and shut down any aspirations the IP had of being a cash cow for DC Comics and Warner Bros. Not only did the film kill all ambitions of a successful Green Lantern franchise, but it also managed to shut down Green Lantern: The Animated Series, which was already having trouble with its toy sales.

While Ryan Reynolds is not exactly a fan of the film, there is one observation that the actor made that betrays a more thorough understanding of the mythology of the character. Given that James Gunn is focusing on the Lanterns, giving them a live-action property of their own for the first time in a while, Reynolds’ assessment of the property could come in handy for the director,...

Stephen Amell starred as Oliver Queen a.k.a Green Arrow in the CW series Arrow. The show spawned the Arrowverse, including shows such as The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, and more. It went on for eight seasons, ending in 2019. The show crossed over with other shows in the Arrowverse and saw many prominent DC characters make an appearance.
While the show included popular characters such as Deathstroke, Black Canary, and the Monitor, the makers revealed that they never intended to introduce some of these characters so early into the show. Characters such as Deathstroke and Arsenal a.k.a Roy Harper appeared in season 1 of the show despite being planned for much later.

My standard complaint about the Black Hammer comics is that they’re mostly static, locked into an initial premise that wasn’t all that exciting to begin with. I suppose that’s in distinction to “real” superhero comics, which rely on the façade of change – someone is always dying, someone’s costume is always changing, someone is always making a heel-face turn, and worlds are inevitably always living and dying so that nothing will ever be the same – but it’s not self-reflective enough to count as irony.
But some kinds of stories aren’t supposed to change anything – the whole point is that they don’t, and can’t, change the things we already know. Jam comics by entirely different creators tend to fall into that bucket: they’re sometimes “real” and sometimes not, but even if they’re canonical, they don’t push the canon in any direction.

Geoff Johns initially penned a script for a Green Lantern Corps movie in the Dceu, aiming for a release by the end of 2019. However, plans changed when it was revealed in April 2020 that Johns would produce a Green Lantern Corps series for HBO Max, indicating a shift in direction. Dr. Manhattan, featured in Watchmen, is an enigmatic figure, captivating audiences with his complexity and unparalleled abilities. Originating as a scientist transformed into a deity-like being through radiation exposure, he has fueled countless debates since his introduction in the iconic 1986 comic book series.

Following the release of ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ Dceu was officially concluded and Gunn’s and Safran’s Dcu officially took over as the primary cinematic universe for DC characters. Wonder Woman took cinemas by storm when it was released in 2017. Despite being a period piece set during World War 2, it managed to bring in droves of fans to witness Diana Prince’s origin tale. So, with the same creative team returning for a sequel and the ever-popular decade of the 80s being its setting, this could outdo the first in every way. But with expectations comes disappointment as the film released during Covid caused quite a stir for its creative partners and had some rather questionable CGI. So today on DC Revisited, we’re getting into it all as we dive into Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 1984.
After the first film made $822 Million worldwide, a sequel was announced just one month after release. A few months later, it was announced that writer/director Patty Jenkins and her co-writer Geoff Johns would return and serve the same roles for this new venture.

This Batman article contains spoilers.
Joker continuity is a bit messy by design. Ever since the Clown Prince of Crime declared that he “preferred multiple choice” in Alan Moore and Brian Bolland’s seminal 1988 comic Batman: The Killing Joke, it’s been very tough to nail down just what is true and what isn’t about the villain’s origin story. Was the Joker once a failed comedian who went mad after criminals murdered his family and he fell into a vat of chemicals? Maybe. Or was he originally a crime boss known as the Red Hood? Is his real name actually Jack?
Multiple choice has mostly worked well for the Joker, who is meant to be Gotham’s embodiment of true evil. The fact that his story is indecipherable and ultimately unknowable makes him that much scarier of a threat for Batman. But things are getting a little too convoluted now.

What’s Good: Jason Momoa’s Sassy Act in a visually delightful film that could have been better than the first part.
What’s Bad: Badly edited scenes that instantly suck you out of the film to land you in Amber Heard Vs Johnny Depp’s chaotic drama unnecessarily!
Loo Break: Anywhere in the first half
Watch or Not?: With the holiday season around, it might be a yayy for a family date

Jason Momoa returns as the King of Atlanta in what could have been the strongest Dceu film after its brilliant and trippy first part. In one of the scenes,...

This Blue Beetle article contains spoilers.
At the start of Blue Beetle’s second act, protagonist Jaime Reyes (Xolo Maridueña) asks an important question: “Who the hell was Blue Beetle?”
A lot of viewers wondered the same thing when the Warner Bros. movie came to theaters earlier this year and they’ll likely be asking it again now that the movie is streaming on Max. People don’t ask that same question of Superman, Batman, or Wonder Woman, but not because Blue Beetle is at best a C-lister in the DC Comics bullpen. Rather it’s because the man behind the Blue Beetle mask has changed several times since Charles Nicholas Wojtkoski debuted the character in 1939.
The big-screen adaptation introduces Blue Beetle as Jaime Reyes, who is a recent college grad forced to the superhero identity after receiving an alien scarab from Jenny Kord (Bruna Marquezine), the daughter of inventor Ted Kord,...

Tyler Hoechlin in ‘Superman & Lois’
The CW’s confirmed that Superman & Lois starring Tyler Hoechlin (Teen Wolf) and Elizabeth Tulloch (Grimm) will wrap up with the upcoming fourth season. The superhero action series was the last remaining holdout from The CW’s old comic-book-inspired primetime lineup that included Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning, Supergirl, Batwoman, Stargirl, and Gotham Knights.
Season four will consist of just 10 episodes and is expected to air in 2024.
“While we’re sad to say goodbye to Superman & Lois at the end of Season Four, we’re grateful for the time we’ve had with our amazing cast, crew, vfx teams, editors, musical geniuses, and writers. Since the day this show was first discussed, it was about family. And that’s what was created—on and off screen,” stated executive producers and co-showrunners Todd Helbing and Brent Fletcher.”
