The 1990s saw a lot of action movies come and go, some of which were better than others. Big stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis dominated the theaters, and they had projects green-lit by name recognition alone. However, just because one high-octane film does well, it doesn't guarantee that another will resonate as well with audiences. Many movies come out with high hopes and prolific marketing, but the pay-off isn't quite what studios are expecting.
Many different metrics go into measuring a film's success. If the budget is high, the box office takings need to cover and even exceed it in order not to be considered a failure. The caliber of actors involved also has bearing. A lesser-known ensemble won't have as many expectations as a tried and tested cast with previous blockbusters. Explosive action films are typically projected to earn more than less popular genres, too. However, some...

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for From season 3.
From season 4 needs to give a larger role to one of the series' original characters. Since season 1, From's cast of characters has been extensive. Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau) is arguably the show's most prominent character, but From has always been and continues to be an ensemble series. The cast only expanded further in season 2 when a bus became trapped in the Town, and several of its passengers became important characters, including Elgin (Nathan D. Simmons), Marielle (Kaelen Ohm), Randall (A.J. Simmons), and Tillie (Deborah Grover).
From season 3, episode 1 featured a major addition to the cast with the unexpected introduction of Victor's father, Henry Kavanaugh (Robert Joy), and Acosta (Samantha Brown) also became an important character following her debut later in season 3. Between the deaths of Tillie, Tian-Chen Liu (Elizabeth Moy), and especially with Jim Matthews in From season 3's ending, the ensemble is shrinking slightly.

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for From season 3, episode 10, "Revelations: Chapter Two."A From theory suggests that Eloise Kavanaugh (Ellie Cluett) may still be alive. Eloise was the sister of Victor (Scott McCord), one of From's best characters who has been trapped in the Town for decades. Victor was originally trapped in the Town with Eloise and their mother, Miranda (Sarah Booth), but had to learn to survive on his own. From season 3 revealed Miranda's fate, showing that she was killed by the Smiley monster (Jamie McGuire), although it is later explained that Tabitha Matthews (Catalina Sandino Moreno) is a reincarnation of Miranda.
As for Eloise, Victor has spoken before about how his sister died the same night Miranda told him to stay in the Town's root cellar. During the From season 3 ending, Victor takes his father, Henry (Robert Joy), to where he buried what was left of Eloise after the monsters' massacre.

Stephen King‘s novel The Institute (which can be purchased Here) reached store shelves on September 10, 2019 – and that same day, it was announced that David Kelley and Jack Bender, the duo behind the King series adaptation Mr. Mercedes, were working on a limited series adaptation of The Institute. Five years have gone since then and Kelley has dropped off the project along the way, but The Institute is moving forward at MGM+ – and Variety reports that a trailer for the show was screened at Content London on Thursday. Michael Wright, the head of MGM+, director / executive producer Jack Bender, and creator / executive producer Benjamin Cavell were also in attendance to talk about the show, including the decision to age up the characters for the adaptation and the story’s connection to The Shining.

Stephen King has made a name for himself since his iconic debut novel, Carrie, in 1974, as a living legend of horror who truly changed the genre forever. His prolific career has been incredibly successful, producing 65 novels and more than 200 short stories, which have gone on to sell over 400 million copies, gaining him a legion of loyal fans. Unsurprisingly, his work translated incredibly well to the screen, with many of his works being transformed for both film and television - with many more still to be adapted - creating some of the most iconic horror works in cinematic history.
Though many of his works have been widely celebrated, some have been overshadowed or flown under the radar, such as Christine and 1408, both of which share many of the trademarks of King's classic film adaptions. King is a master of combining terrifying supernatural elements with a deep look at human psychology,...

A subtle detail in From season 1, episode 1 cleverly hints at season 3's game-changing Tabitha Matthews (Catalina Sandino Moreno) and Jade Herrera (David Alpay) twist. The first episode sees the Matthews family and Jade both getting trapped in the Town, with Victor Kavanaugh (Scott McCord) later remarking that it has been a long time since two cars arrived on the same day. Since their introductions, Tabitha and Jade have become two of From's most important characters and have been determined to unravel the Town's mysteries.
The From season 3 ending reveals that Tabitha and Jade have been to the Town countless times before and have been reincarnated as many different individuals over the years. One of the children who was killed was Tabitha and Jade's daughter, and they have been repeatedly trying and failing to save the children and set them free.

“We are thrilled by the support of our fans and our partners at MGM+ and are so excited to share the next chapter of our story with our FROMily. “With the culmination of Season Three we have, in many ways, reached the end of the beginning. In Season Four, a new journey begins. The question is whether it will lead our characters home, or deeper into this unrelenting nightmare,” said Griffin. “We are so grateful to our partners at MGM+ to be able to continue this tale and beyond excited to share the news with our amazing FROMily.”
Added Bender: “Congratulations and gratitude to Michael Wright and MGM+ for the incredible support. And to our brilliant family of actors and our gifted team in Nova Scotia. We’re looking forward to telling more of the tale.”

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for From season 3, episode 5.From has no shortage of mysteries, but Henry (Robert Joy) just made a great point about one of them in season 3, episode 5, "The Light of Day." As the father of Victor (Scott McCord), Henry has been the most important addition to From's cast of characters in season 3. For decades, Henry believed that his wife and children were dead. Victor has come a long way from the man we met in From Season 1.
Victor has been a bit of a loner with a sad history, but he has evolved over time. And just when he was ready to confront his past and start looking into the pieces of his history he could no longer remember, he was thrown a loop; his father was in town.
Victor and Henry’s reunion during From Season 3 Episode 5 was incredibly moving. A lot of emotions were packed into a hug that neither man thought they’d ever experience again.
(Chris Reardon/MGM+)
Scott McCord injects such warmth and depth into Victor, and we jumped at the chance to discuss the father-son reunion and Victor’s complicated feelings.
McCord was an absolute delight and was so sincere in his assessment of the fan-favorite Victor.
Enjoy this one, From fanatics!

Warning: There are From season 3, episode 5 spoilers ahead. From season 3, episode 5, "The Light of Day" deals with the fallout from the consequential turn of events in the previous episode. Episode 4 saw Tabitha Matthews (Catalina Sandino Moreno) returning to the Town with Victor's father, Henry (Robert Joy), aboard an ambulance. Also in the ambulance were two paramedics, who were quickly killed and manipulated by From's savage monsters, as well as a police officer, Acosta (Samantha Brown), who accidentally killed Nicky (Tamara Fifield), one of the residents at Colony House.
In episode 5, From's cast of characters holds a meeting to learn about how Tabitha escaped the Town, what she did after she left, and how she returned. The largely negative reception to Tabitha's answers creates even more problems as the denizens of the Town continue to be pushed toward their breaking point. Warning: There are spoilers ahead for From season 3, episode 4.Crows have played an important role in From since the first episode. When the Matthews family first encountered the fallen tree lying in the middle of the road, they saw crows perched on the tree and flying overhead. While the Matthews found the sight to be ominous, they did not realize what it meant, and that they were now trapped in a Town they could not escape from where From's manipulative and savage monsters terrorize the residents every night.
As From's cast of characters contend with the monsters and disturbing hallucinations that can kill them, the crows were largely forgotten after the Matthews family's arrival in season 1. That is no longer the case in season 3, as the crows have become more important again, and have been featured in some of the season's most memorable scenes so far. Every small step the protagonists take forward is met with grueling steps back, courtesy of the mysterious puzzle box of horrors in the propulsive MGM+ series “From.” Or rather, the harder the humans fight to escape their bizarre purgatory, the crueler the enigmatic evil gets, aiming to crush their spirits before devouring them. And it’s evolving. “From” Season 3 picks up immediately from where Season 2 left off, and while the first five episodes screened for critics put us no closer to answers, one thing is certain: the gloves are now fully off for the horror.
Time is of the essence this season. The dawning realization that resources were growing scarce has snowballed into the very real possibility of starvation. Boyd (Harold Perrineau) faces a ticking clock of his own with an illness, one that’s emboldened him to fight back in his relentless pursuit to find salvation for the survivors.

Susan Seidelman’s enduring breakout hit Desperately Seeking Susan turns 40 next year, and Rosanna Arquette, one of the film’s stars, has said she still has hypothetical dreams of revisiting the pic in a sequel.
Speaking on film critic and journalist Anna Smith’s popular Girls On Film Podcast, Arquette said the thought of returning to the feature popped into her mind because sequels are now frequently being produced.
“I always had a fantasy about what happened to them?” she said of the character she plays in the pic alongside Madonna, who made her acting debut in the film. “Who are they now? It would be so great to make that movie. And see where everybody ends up. Do Dez [Aidan Quinn’s character] and her stay together? What happens to them?”

One of my all-time favorite movie quotes comes from David Arquette as Dewey Riley in Scream 2 when he says, “How do you know that my dimwitted inexperience isn’t merely a subtle form of manipulation, used to lower people’s expectations, thereby enhancing my ability to effectively maneuver within any given situation?”
There’s something about Land of Dead that just screams this quote at me. Pardon the pun. My point is that George A. Romero’s 2005 zombie return looks on the surface like any B-movie fly-by-night mid-2000s zombie fest. And it’s dressed that way on purpose. Those familiar with the subtle and effective way Romero was able to land haymakers in our faces without ever telegraphing as much as a jab will assume I’m talking about the socio-political nuances of the film. While true that Romero is a master at that, I will leave that to those smarter than myself.

Earlier today, we took a look back the Wes Craven-directed 2005 thriller Red Eye… so we figured, why not follow that up by taking a look at a remake of a Craven horror film that was released the year after Red Eye reached theatres? The movie we’re taking about is the 2006 version of The Hills Have Eyes (watch it Here), a remake of Craven’s 1977 classic. It’s time for this one to be revisited, and you can hear all about it in the embed above.
While the original film was written and directed by Craven, Alexandre Aja directed the remake from a screenplay he wrote with Grégory Levasseur. Here’s the synopsis: Bob Carter and his wife Ethel, along with five other members of the family, are heading for San Diego with their camper van. An accident strands them in the desert and while two of the men go for help,...
