The 71-year-old wife of Bruce Springsteen and longtime member of E Street Band went public with her diagnosis in the new documentary Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.

According to the Mayo Clinic, multiple myeloma is a type of blood cancer that impacts plasma cells, which are type of white blood cell found in the bone marrow. Plasma cells help the body fight infections by producing antibodies. In myeloma, abnormal plasma cells multiply uncontrollably and crowd out normal blood cells, interfering with the production of healthy blood cells and antibodies. This can lead to weakened bones, kidney problems, anemia, and a weakened immune system.

When writer-director Rebecca Miller was playing back her latest film “She Came to Me,” she felt it was missing a compelling song. The National’s singer-turned-composer Bryce Dessner was sitting next to her when the thought entered: Bruce Springsteen would be perfect.

Dessner was drawing inspiration from Marisa Tomei’s character Katrina, who he describes as “a muse and this gutsy character. She’s a miraculous, amazing and powerful woman. She just felt like she could be a character from a Springsteen song,” he says.

Miller, who used the Springsteen hit “Dancing in the Dark” in her 2015 film “Maggie’s Plan,” loved the idea of Springsteen writing the end credits song. “It was an absurd idea, but it just came to me,” Dessner tells Variety. “What would normally feel insurmountable to most people is not the thing that occurs to Rebecca first, but she said, ‘Oh, that’s interesting.'”

Tickets for Lucinda Williams’ tour are currently on sale after the singer released her new album Stories from a Rock n Roll Heart.

This comes three years since Williams suffered a stroke and lost the ability to use the left side of her body. Since then, Williams has been in rehab in an attempt to learn how to relearn how to walk and do other basic functions. Not only did she suffer from a serious medical condition, but in 2020 she also experienced her Nashville home being damaged by a tornado and went through the pandemic.

She announced the album back in April on her Instagram, sharing a sneak peek of her new single “New York Comeback” and officially launched it in June. It was a challenging process for the singer to create the album, as she had to invent a new songwriting procedure due to her being unable to play the guitar anymore.

The National’s Bryce Dessner has detailed his new soundtrack for the upcoming absurdist comedy She Came to Me starring Peter Dinklage. Out September 29th via Warner Classics and Unigram, the album features an original song from Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa called “Addicted to Romance.”

According to a press release, She Came to Me director Rebecca Miller said the soundtrack came from an “intimate process” of collaboration with Dessner, who boarded the film during its earliest stages. This was especially important since the album had to incorporate two on-screen operas from the movie. Conducted by André de Ridder, the score features contributions from French pianist Katia Labèque and vocals from Greer Grimsley, Alicia Hall Moran, Isabel Leonard, and Emmett O’Hanlon.

It was not shared what illness Springsteen is battling, but his team announced the news on Wednesday on X, formerly Twitter.

“Due to Bruce Springsteen having been taken ill, his concerts with The E Street Band at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on August 16 and 18 have been postponed,” they wrote. “We are working on rescheduling the dates so please hold on to your tickets as they will be valid for the rescheduled shows.”

Lucinda Williams has shared a music video for her recent single, “Rock N Roll Heart.” The black and white clip marks the first time in over three decades that Williams has starred in one of her videos, following 1988’s “Passionate Kisses.”

During the show, Michelle jammed out with a tambourine and sang backing vocals during a performance of ‘Glory Days’. She was joined by actress Kate Capshaw and Springsteen’s wife and bandmate Patti Scialfa, reports People.

According to Insider, Michelle’s husband, Barack Obama, was seen smiling and encouraging his wife from the crowd during her surprise appearance.

The performance of the song followed other classics such as ‘Born in the U.S.A.’ and ‘Born to Run’.

Michelle and Barack’s attendance at Springsteen’s show in Spain took place after they joined the rocker and Steven Spielberg – Capshaw’s husband – for a meal at Palace Hotel’s Amar fish food restaurant the night before, as per The Guardian.

In the video, Michelle and Kate are smiling and having a blast while keeping a steady beat with hand tambourines.

Bruce Springsteen welcomed an unexpected guest to the stage during his show in Barcelona, Spain on Friday night: former first lady Michelle Obama sat in with Springsteen and the E Street Band as they performed “Glory Days.”

Obama sang and played a tambourine to the Born in the U.S.A. classic, alongside Springsteen’s wife and E Street Band member, Patti Scialfa, and actress Kate Capshaw.

The night prior to the concert, Springsteen, Scialfa, Capshaw, and Capshaw’s husband, director Steven Spielberg, dined with the Obamas at a restaurant in Barcelona.

Springsteen and Obamas’ relationship extends back to 2008, when Barack Obama first ran for president. Springsteen played several of Obama’s early campaign rallies and inauguration, and hit the road for him again during his 2012 reelection campaign. He even wrote Obama’s campaign theme song. Later, near the end of his presidency, President Obama awarded Springsteen with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
