One of the most remarkable things about "Frasier" is its consistency. When the "Frasier" pilot aired back in 1993, Niles actor David Hyde Pierce thought the episode was "terrible" at first. Oh, how wrong he was. The pilot, entitled "The Good Son," remains an exceptional debut episode in TV history, simply because all the characters arrived fully formed, their dynamics dialed in and their chemistry immediately evident. The writing was as good as it ever got, too, and most importantly, the show demonstrated its commitment to an underlying moral depth right from the off, with Frasier and his father clashing initially before making up in a touching moment that saw John Mahoney's Martin Crane calling into his son's radio show to smooth things over.
Not content with debuting a show that appeared to have been running like clockwork for years, "Frasier" writers continued to pump out quality over the ensuing 11 seasons.

A fine 20th Fox entry for the 3-D craze of 1953, the adventure thriller Inferno is often labeled a film noir in the desert. Despite the presence of a scheming, murderous wife, the noir quotient here is minimal — it’s just a straight survival tale with a homicidal twist. It was only a few days ago when we shared the first images from Le Fils de Joseph, the latest drama Eugène Green, his follow-up to La Sapienza, which was sadly overlooked last year — at least in the United States. Led by Mathieu Amalric, Fabrizio Rongione (La Sapienza; Two Days, One Night), Natacha Régnier, Victor Ezenfis, and Maria de Medeiros, we now have the first trailer for the drama. While it is without any subtitles yet, that isn’t a problem when it comes to witnessing more vibrant cinematography from the director.
While at Berlin, Guy Lodge quite liked the film, writing for Variety, “No one behaves quite like a human being in Eugene Green’s “Le Fils de Joseph,” yet a soulful sense of humanity emerges from their heightened declamations anyway. Though it’s still steeped in its maker’s very particular formalities of language and performance, this honey-drizzled,...

There are few better ways to predict the Cannes lineup than looking up whatever Wild Bunch are soon putting out. The French production outfit earns as much attention as anyone around mid-May, and there are at least two in-development titles that have caught our attention — though you wouldn’t necessarily expect that they have the same people working behind the scenes.
They are The Red Turtle, a co-production with Studio Ghibli directed by Michaël Dudok de Wit, and Blood Father, a thriller directed by Jean-François Richet that stars Mel Gibson, William H. Macy, Diego Luna, Michael Parks, and Erin Moriarty (The Kings of Summer, Jessica Jones), among others. Then there’s Le Fils de Joseph, from Eugène Green — whose La Sapienza was one of my ten favorite movies from last year — and starring Mathieu Amalric, Fabrizio Rongione (La Sapienza; Two Days, One Night), Natacha Régnier, Victor Ezenfis, and Maria de Medeiros...

He's the smoothest boss around with the finest pair of driving gloves, but could we see Johnson's demise in Peep Show's final series?
Paterson Joseph has revealed that he has wanted his slick character to kill himself in the past, and writers Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong may still have a shock up their sleeves.
"We always talked about a Johnson suicide," he told Digital Spy. "And I want him to kill himself in the bath with a picture of Mark. That's how I'd like to end him.
"They've always talked about him dying but they didn't quite know how and we started talking about the suicide thing. They'll go with something much cleverer than that!"
Joseph will return as Johnson in the upcoming final series of the Channel 4 comedy alongside fellow stars David Mitchell and Robert Webb, with the cast tweeting several emotional photos from the final days on set.

The Reflektor Tapes
Directed by Kahlil Joseph
Canada, 2015
After Arcade Fire won the Grammy for The Suburbs in 2010, they went from becoming the biggest indie rock band in the world to simply one of the biggest bands in the world. In turn, their sound on their 2013 album Reflektor grew far more eclectic, embracing more of the polyrhythms and exotic influences that had colored all of their previous records. But as the band has blown up, they’ve turned increasingly inward, moving away from the twee indie hipsters of “Wake Up” and toward the more esoteric and mysterious. Before the release of Reflektor they performed several pop-up shows as The Reflektors and turned their album into a double album opus drawing on the Greek tragedies of Orpheus and Eurydice. This is hardly the arc of your typical pop stars.

We almost just stress-ate all of the office kitchen carbs over this news: Joseph Gordon-Levitt will play Mindy Lahiri's husband on "The Mindy Project."
Luckily, we were able to calm down mid-pound cake inhalation thanks to Buzzfeed, which shared details about Jgl's new role (hint: it does not mean the end of Mindy and our beloved Danny Castellano, played by Chris Messina).
Joseph will star as Mindy's husband in the Season 4 premiere, which will feature an alternate reality storyline –a nod to 1998's "Sliding Doors" movie, according to the website.

Kendrick Lamar will premiere his short film m.A.A.d at Sundance Next Fest in Los Angeles.
The 14-minute film, inspired by his 2012 good kid, m.A.A.d city album, centres on life in Lamar's South Central Los Angeles and features shots of his neighbourhood.
Directed by Kahlil Joseph, it's described as "a kaleidoscope of storylines and ideas that defy typical categorisation to explore new languages and new forms".
Joseph previously won a Sundance Award for Until the Quiet Comes, a collaboration with Flying Lotus.
m.A.A.d will be shown on August 9, when both Lamar and Joseph will participate in a panel discussion.
The rapper is currently preparing his next album, and there are rumours of a collaboration with Stevie Wonder.

While rightly celebrated for his films, Spike Jonze is also an ace actor, who excels and showing up in small roles and knocking them out of the park. His turn as a penny stock mover and shaker in Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf Of Wall Street" was memorable stuff, as was his brief appearance in Bennett Miller's "Moneyball." And now he's bringing talents to Lena Dunham's fourth season of "Girls," where he'll show up as a character named Marcos. And as per usual, not much else is being shared about his role in the show. [The Wrap] After bouncing around naked in Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" video, Hollywood came calling for model-now-actress Emily Ratajkowski. Fans of Joseph Morgan are not sure what the future holds for Klaus as the season finale (entitled “From a Cradle to a Grave”) of The Originals> comes this Tuesday. Klaus cannot survive when Haley’s has their baby, but the question is if this is the true end of Klaus? We doubt it since he is the star of the series and that would also kill off The Vampire Diaries. Clearly CW would be making a huge mistake to kill off two huge series and they are smarter than that. However, it does look like we can expect some major drama from the season finale thanks to the trailer below.
How do you think this season will end? I expect that a large cliff hanger will happen to keep us on our toes. I still like Klaus and I am pretty sure most of us do. So it will...

Thanks in part to Les Misérables success, Joseph will see technicolour treatment on the big screen, says Andrew Lloyd Webber
It's been a school play, a concept album, a West End hit and a BBC talent show. Now, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is to become a feature film.
Andrew Lloyd Webber, who last week revealed that discussions were ongoing for a screen version of Cats, has now confirmed that Joseph will get the big-screen treatment.
Appearing on The One Show on BBC1, ahead of the official opening of his new musical, Stephen Ward, Lloyd Webber said the film "was definitely happening … That's actually been signed on the dotted line."
The musical, which was first performed at London's Colet Court school, in 1968, has been filmed once, in 1999, with Donny Osmond in the lead role – though it went straight to video. That version also featured Richard Attenborough, Joan Collins and Maria Friedman.

Like Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Eva Longoria and now Ellen DeGeneres, Lady Gaga is trying her hand at the restaurant business. According to Internet chatter, her proud papa Joseph will hook-up with his superstar daughter on the business.
The restaurant will be named Joanne and will be located on West 68th Street in New York City, where the Germanotta clan resides. Gaga has already invested in the spot, according to Foodista. It's reportedly slated for a soft launch this Thanksgiving, with a full launch in December. Art Smith (who was on "Top Chef Masters" and worked for Oprah) will reportedly be the restaurant's chef.
While right now there is no confirmation on the matter, there is a bit of back story behind the name chosen for the spot. Joanne is not only Gaga's middle name but is also the name of Joseph's late sister, who the pop star has spoken about as her spirit guide.

Darren Lynn Bousman, director of Saw 2-4 and Repo! The Genetic Opera, has built up a bit of a cult following the last half-a-decade. I have yet to jump on the bandwagon, and judging by his latest work, I don’t think I ever will. Using editing techniques common in bad student films and a plot that seems recycled from countless horror films, hit latest horror film 11-11-11 looks to have very little appeal. But hey, it has to be better than The Number 23. Right? Starring Timothy Gibbs, Wendy Glenn and Michael Landes, one can see the new trailer below via Yahoo.
Synopsis:

As expected, Marion and Joseph are joining the film franchise and will both be playing newly introduced characters!
The cast of The Dark Knight Rises is finally coming together with the news that Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be joining the cast in roles that are new to the popular comic. According to our sister site Deadline, Marion will be playing Miranda Tate, a “Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne” while Joseph will be playing John Blake, “a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon.”
This will reunite Marion and Joseph with director Christopher Nolan, who they both worked with on the film Inception.
Filming may be a bit tricky for Marion who is currently expecting her first child this June, especially as filming is expected to begin right around that time in London.

The Perfect Host Movie Trailer has premiered. Nick Tomnay‘s The Perfect Host (2010) stars David Hyde Pierce, Clayne Crawford, Nathaniel Parker, Helen Reddy, and Megahn Perry. The Perfect Host‘s plot synopsis: “A criminal on the run cons his way into the wrong dinner party where the host is anything but ordinary.” The film starts out one way then completely changes direction, much like David Slade‘s Hard Candy (written about here: Hardy Candy (2005) Film Review), which starred Ellen Page and Patrick Wilson. I doubt The Perfect Host is as brillant as Hard Candy from this movie trailer but who knows, it might be. The beauty of Hard Candy is that it never gave anything away in its promotinal materials. This film does. I love the fact that Warwick Wilson (David Hyde Pierce) is even more violent and twisted than robber/criminal John Taylor (Clayne Crawford). The Perfect Host also stars Joseph Will,...

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is set to join the new Batman film. The 'Inception' actor is in talks with producers to star in the latest film about the caped crusader, 'The Dark Knight Rises', which is being directed Christopher Nolan. If he gets the part, Joseph will join the likes of Christian Bale, who will be reprising his role as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Anne Hathaway, who has been cast as Selina Kyle/Catwoman. Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman and Sir Michael Caine will also appear in the film. While 'The Dark Knight Rises' is set for release in December 2012, Nolan has previously revealed it will be his last time of directing the film franchise. He said: "I feel very glad that I'm doing another 'Batman' film. I think it would have been daunting to sit down and write an original script after 'Inception'. I...

A fourth trailer of the upcoming adventure blockbuster Le poil de la bête has arrived online. The film's release is scheduled for October 1rst.
The story, which was penned by Stéphane J. Bureau and Pierre Daudelin, takes place in 1665 in New France at a time when a part of Canada was colonialized by France. Joseph Côté (Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge) escapes from a prison in order to avoid death by hanging. Moreover, while some colonial soldiers are chasing him, Joseph takes the identity of a jesuit and hides in the seigneury of Beaufort where most men are waiting for "daughhters of the king"(French women who were sent to Canada in order to find a husband).
At night, Joseph finds out that there are werewolves that terrorize the village. Besides, things get complicated when he falls in love with Marie Labotte (Viviane Audet), a "daughter of the king" that no one wants to marry.

Getting a platform to conduct interviews along the crowded Emmy red carpet is tough, but E! network and TV Guide Channel have two each, NBC-related media have three (NBC, "Access Hollywood," "Extra") and CBS has two ("E.T.," "The Insider"). This year People magazine nabbed a new platform space (albeit relatively small) right near the entrance. All other media are crammed in between the platforms where they must jostle with each other behind a velvet rope while competing to nab celebrity interviews.
This is the order of the platforms all located along the right side of the Emmys' red carpet as celebrities arrive and pass through metal detectors. First comes "Entertainment Tonight" (its position has been "grandfathered" into its deal with the TV academy), then People, E! (Ryan Seacrest's position), TV Guide Channel, NBC, "Access Hollywood," "Extra," "The Insider," E! (second position), and TV Guide Channel (second position). E! actually has a third interview spot,...

We've started calling Caprica "mourn porn" at my house because it has become so chilling and real that it almost feels voyeuristic to watch it. Of course, try explaining that to someone who's never seen Caprica or BSG: "It's about how a choir boy blew up a train that caused two teenage girls' souls and/or avatars to get trapped inside a robot body/virtual world, and then how their surviving parents — with the help of a gay mobster and a femme fatale nun — went simultaneously nuts and destroyed the entire universe."
'Cause, yeah — that sounds real.
Actually, that may be the most terrifying thing about Caprica. Like maybe we're all going about our lives making sure we use ecologically-friendly light bulbs, and taking our cloth bags to the grocery store, and just generally being kind and paying it forward, and somewhere on earth there are five or six crazy-rich...
